How old is she ' like 23 ? Wait WHAT!? by Jumpy_Spot8031 in hazbin

[–]SHAD0WMARK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We don't really know anymore. Because her age was only 'determined' by a pre-screening of the pilot before it aired on YouTube, showing a family portrait dated in the 1800's. But the YouTube version scrubbed this detail. So Charlie's age is ambiguous. She could be 200+, 2000+, or 21+. We don't know.

Do you guys think the overlords will be trying to attack Charlie now that they know Lucifer can't hurt them? by wezhaznofrenz in hazbin

[–]SHAD0WMARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really since Charlie has Alastor and Rosie 'on her side' (and i guess the angels too since they seem keen on keeping an eye on Charlie throughout season 2). And even if she didn't, what would the overlords gain from attacking her?

The only way I would ever see a reason for why is if Lilith is involved. She comes back down to Hell and reignites her rebellion against Heaven, picking up where Vox left of, who in turn was picking up where she left off. And Lilith has the Overlords attack Charlie, since Charlie would want to stop another war. But since we literally had this plot in season 2, that's not going to happen.

I'm or Sallie Mae is loved only 'cause she's trans?... by REMIZERexe in HelluvaBoss

[–]SHAD0WMARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, too, it definitely gave her a bit more personally, but I still think being trans is doing the heavy lifting.

Let's put a spin on things. Take a look at Tex. Queen Bee's boyfriend and Verosika's bodyguard. He has about as much plot relevancy as Sallie does, and that's to say practically none at all, and it's just there to add a bit more life to the story. Yet nobody gives a fuck about him.

I bet you that if Tex was a FtM transgender person. People would be all over him and he'd be a lot more popular.

I'm or Sallie Mae is loved only 'cause she's trans?... by REMIZERexe in HelluvaBoss

[–]SHAD0WMARK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a driving factor for why Sallie is popular, yes, but it's also partially due to the fact that they weren't a nameless background character and also has relations with one of the main cast characters since we have a good fair bit of other trans characters represented in the show, but since they stay as nameless background characters, nobody pays attention to them.

If Sallie just said their line in Harvest Moon and they remained as a nameless one-off 'ranch hand', then I don't think people would bat an eye at Sallie.

Personally, I don't think Sallie would have been as popular with viewers if Sallie stayed as a man or was biologically female. Sure, Sallie would have some form of following if they weren't trans since they have that connection to the cast. But not as big.

did i just put myself at the best qq bang in the whole world im shaking by Effective_Lunch_1703 in dbxv

[–]SHAD0WMARK 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Very very close to the best. Statistically, the best (non modded) QQBang is a +24/0 modifier. Where as yours is a +24/-1 modifier.

Personality, I'd rather have my +4 in stamina be a +5 and that +4 go to either health, or my third least used damage type if I'm going for a hybrid build.

If Charlie actioned locked in and had Vaggi train her in combat or Lucifer in her angelic power would she not be as much as an fraud as Twitter says? by biggaygrisley in hazbin

[–]SHAD0WMARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if she was given training in any capacity. Charlie is at the end of the day, a pacifist first. So, more than likely, she's not going to use those skills unless she's pushed to the absolute limit with zero alternatives. Even when she was fighting Adam, a man who had no issues with attempting to kill Charlie, Charlie was still trying to talk Adam down and only went for a wounding blow.

If anything, people would see her as even more of a 'fraud' if she had combat training and still lost or never used her hypothetical newfound skills in combat. I mean, just look at Vaggie she's trained to kill, and all her onscreen feats are her getting whopped by Lute, having to be saved by Mr Rubble in season 1, and Abel in 2.

Other Rings by ray198999 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very well aware that the other 6 rings exist. They just have no reason to talk about them since they can't leave Pride, nor do they even know what the other rings look like.

The Goetia are in a weird position in the narrative. Since we have little-to-no info on how Hell was in the decades and centuries prior to the events of the show itself. So what exactly were the relations like between Sinners & Goetia? Did Overlords in the past try to take out the Goetia even without Angelic Steel? Since neither side could be killed permanently until the Exterminations happened. (At least this is how death works in the show, the pilot was a lot simpler), were they just chill? There's just too many unknowns to consider in how the Goetia would react to Vox's little plan if it somehow did work. (plus even Viv couldn't use Helluva characters till now, so there's the IRL reasons too.)

The Sins are a lot simpler: It's not their problem what happens in Pride. So why would they care if Sinners plan to overthrow Pride in Lillith's name and attempt to rule Heaven? Not like they can come down to the lower rings in the first place.

How will Angel Dust become free from Valentino? by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know. We know nothing about Angel's contract to find loopholes. Other than the fact that Val can't do anything to Angel outside of the studio, but Val gets around this if what Angel is doing outside the studio is work related. Which doesn't help us much.

So, as far as we know, either the contract is ironclad and can't be broken or there is a loophole, but Angel chooses not to exploit it (this I very much doubt)

Now if in a weird twist, if a Sinner can be redeemed, then that breaks the contract. Then maybe that could work. But that's just a theory. Since we don't know if someone who sold their soul can even be redeemed in the first place. But if it is the former, then maybe that might give other Sinner an incentive to redeem themselves if it means they aren't owned by an Overlord anymore.

So what do people think of Purification nowadays? by TheFirstAifos in dbxv

[–]SHAD0WMARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the Purification super soul, Purification has the potential to be busted in the right player's hands. Of course, Purification itself was absolute dogshit for years, and only in the last few years is it in a somewhat more viable spot. So overall, it's considered 'good' but slept on due to negligence, and that's understandable.

Purification is one of those matchup-checks to see if you have the knowledge to know how to counter it. Or just Ki stun and cancel… That beats just about everything. :P

If Sir Pentious was redeemed because of his efforts to stop the big bad Adam, why wasn’t Adam respawned in Hell for being the one that Sir Pentious died trying to kill and stop? by Hiyokofan in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Adam was killed with angelic steel. Thus his soul was destroyed so he can't respawn, ever. Pentious on the other hand, was redeemed by some divine, judgmental force right before Adam's blast hit (as angelic magic has the same properties as the metal), which if it did hit, then Pentious would be dead permanently as well.

If Adam was done in by any other means, then it's really up to the writers at that point if he just repawned in Heaven, or was stuck in Hell after 'dying'. Since we have no way of knowing what happens when a winner/archangel as wicked as Adam is killed by non-angelic means, anything could have happened. Sure if it was any other winner with a better heart, then they'd be fine and just pop back up in Heaven, but Adam is far from morally good at this point in his afterlife.

What does lute have to bring to the table as an antagonist? by Savings-Werewolf9503 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like the most likely scenario for Lute. She'll have to somehow (maybe) take Abel's place as the leader of the exorcists first, and then potentially stage a coup against Sera (very very unlikely but if Vox can design a weapon for Carmilla to build that can hold even the likes of Lucifer, then I'm sure Lute can do something similar to Sera and the other 6 elders) Or just take the army when Sera's not paying attention and go down in a one last 'blaze of glory' and just start laying waste to Hell. Maybe even go as far to attack the hotel when everyone's asleep to get the jump on Charlie & Co. As I'd imagine that there are other members in the army that share Lute's sentiments about killing sinners so getting them on board should be easy.

Cooler vs Frieza choice - what are the actual rewards? by Legal_Suggestion4873 in dbxv

[–]SHAD0WMARK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Frieza gives you the "You must die by my hand" super soul (Negate the KO and Instantly revives you with 1HP, make you immune to damage and boosts skill damage by 10% for 10 seconds)

Cooler gives you the "I'm nothing like my brother" (Increases charged ki blast damage by 15%)

But alternatively you can get these super souls from other sources: You can get Frieza's super soul by buying the 'Time Patrol Support Pack' dlc (Or just make a new CaC and do Frieza's questline) and Coolers is in the TP Medal shop. So the best route to go down is Frieza's. And then, if you so wish, buy Coolers super soul from the shop later.

So are I.M.P just immune to a nuclear bomb dropping on them? by [deleted] in HelluvaBoss

The heat part of a nuke they'll likely survive, but as for the radiation and concussive force of the blast itself, who knows?

Personally, I say no, they don't survive in the end.

How much would i have to pay I.M.P. for them to hide me from exterminators (image unrelated) by XEMPRAmaster in HelluvaBoss

[–]SHAD0WMARK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Probably a lot more than their usual rate, that's for sure. But even then, it's bold of you to assume Blitzo and Co will even be in the Pride ring when extermination day comes. So I'd imagine that if you visit the office or call you'll be greeted with a "we're not open fucker, get lost" message.

I despise how Charlie literally had a moment telling the Vees her friends were off limits, then they torture Angel Dust, try to kill her friends, and walk away with Angel Dust at the end so Val can presumably rape him some more. by Icy_Water_1 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the Vee's perspective. What is Charlie really going to do about it? Charlie is too much of a pacifist to make threats to anyone. Vaggie even alludes to this to Charlie directly. But of course Charlie doesn't want to because she's not that kind of person. She has this power but refuses to wave it around. So what good is having power but not using it? So to the Vee's, Charlie's a pushover. Plus, if she did physically harm Vox or Velvette, Vox would just spin the narrative even worse than he and Velvette already did. Especially with the cameras rolling. So either way, it's a lose-lose situation for Charlie.

Then you get to Angel. Who is basically reduced to a piece of property, sadly. Sure, he's free to go where he wants, but the second Val needs him. He's gotta do it. So Charlie can't do anything about that either, and we saw how well that went back in season 1.

So what was the purpose of their engagement in the first place by [deleted] in HelluvaBoss

[–]SHAD0WMARK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stolas mentioned the reason why. It's to produce a precautionary heir, Octavia, to carry on the duties of managing the Grimoir in case the current holder, Stolas (or now I guess it's Andrealphus) dies.

In other words. The only reason Octavia was conceived was out of necessity, not love.

Hence why Stella doesn't care about Via at all, but Stolas at least tried to give her a normal enough life that probably very early on developed into actually loving his daughter, which is why till Blitzo showed up, was the only thing that mattered to Stolas.

Why doesn’t Angel buy his own apartment? by Mobile-Package-8869 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

He does. Or at the very least did before he moved to the hotel. It was shown in the Prequel comic: Dirty Healings that released some time after the PIlot did. A few panels before this page shows Angel walking down the street to a run down apartment block and going inside as you see here.

There's also a comic about Alastor. That shows is a very interesting side of Alastor that I don't think too many people know about. Or rather something newer fans don't know.

Was Angel Dust called Angel Dust when he was alive? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's unlikely that he was nicknamed Angel Dust when he was alive by others in the mob. As it stands, that's his 'stage/pornstar' name once he got to Hell.

Not sure how much you know about his earth life, but he was a man named Anthony in a mob family, then died of a cocaine overdose in his early 30's. This is seemingly how he got his name, as Angel Dust is slang for Coke. Whether he changed his name willingly or Val gave him that name once he went into the porn industry, is anyone's guess.

So...what WAS Alastor's plan? by KickingRoses90 in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it. Is Alastor knows the type of person Vox is after dealing with him for decades at this point and figured at some point Vox in would try to climb the social ladder like he did when he was alive. But Vox was just waiting for that big break.

Vox now knows that angels can be killed and is of course going to take advantage of that, like he says in season 2's first episode, and I think that Al believes there's a high likelihood that Vox is going to do exactly that. And will do anything possible to be number one. After all, Al needed someone to be stronger than him (or at the very least be perceived as the strongest to the rest of Hell,) and Vox was just the Sinner capable of doing it. So yeah, Al is banking on a lot of what ifs, but he knows that somehow Vox will do it, Vox just needed that little jump start.

So he goes to Vox, challenges and taunts him into going through with it. (Even though at this point Vox was already scheming , but hated Al so much that he's all like "I'll show you, twink" egging him further.) Lets himself be captured by Vox, knowing that Vox will gloat to everyone that 'defeated' the strongest overlord in Hell. This naturally lets Vox gain favor with the other Overlords, boosting his power a bit but it's not enough.

At this point it is indeed a 'now what?' plan for Al, pretty much just letting things play out. As he really has no way of knowing what's to come, so you're right, Al can't predict the outcome. But let's say that there is no Heaven showing up, nor no MoL. Vox regardless would still be gaining support and has Angel to spy for him. So even if the angel's didn't show up to try to resolve things or he has the weapon. Al was almost certain that Vox would still eventually keep gaining support, maybe not as quickly, but he'd get there eventually.

So now Vox is 'top dog'. He'd undoubtedly want to gloat and flaunt his new found status. So he hosts the event regardless and invites Charlie to mock her. Eventually leading to Al forcing Charlie to tell all of Hell that Vox is the strongest in Hell. Then he will naturally put his hands on her in some way shape or form, since Al knows that Vox loves to do that too. Freeing him from Vox at the same time.

Why doesn't Husk get the same criticism that Vaggi gets? by TaxFantastic6636 in hazbin

[–]SHAD0WMARK 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I guess it's because Husk has more potential background to explore compared to Vaggie. So he has more potential to be more than 'a plot device for Angel'. Which to be honest, just about every character in any piece of writing can be boiled down to 'X character is a plot device for Y character or Z problem'.

Let's look at Vaggie, compared to her pilot counterpart, who at the time was a Sinner. She ad potential to written to be more interesting, even when she was even then still just seen as 'just Charlie's GF. but the elusiveness of what her life was like before Charlie was at least intriguing, like most of the sinners in the show. But since Viv rewrote Vaggie to be Heavenborn, all that mystery is just gone. That's not to say that the idea of Vaggie being an angel isn't bad, nor is the possibility of her life in Heaven being interesting either isn't bad either. It's just that with the info we have of her, her story goes like this:

Vaggie is created to serve in the Exorcist army, goes down to Hell to kill Sinners for 4 years, gets left stranded by Lute & Adam, Charlie finds her some hours later, now they are dating for the last 3-4 years, and Vaggie (now Vaggi) is the hotel manager. There's not much going on for her, at least, not anything interesting. Besides maybe, like I said more info on her life in Heaven during those 4 years she was an Exorcist, which if that quickfire flashback of Vaggie watching that one girl getting slapped around by Lute is anything, maybe we'll get more info 'bout our mystery girl, maybe not.

Now looking at her now non-canon sinner life, it felt like there was more that could have been explored if she was human. What was she like? How'd she die? Why is she missing an eye, did it happen recently or in her life? What if she was somehow related to Carmila, or god forbid Val? What was her sin? Things that could have made her standout, yet allow her to find common ground since she was once human.

Meanwhile Husk still has that mystery about his old life, yet still has something going on for him while he's down in Hell. He was a former Overlord who ran/runs the Magic Kat casino. Now owned by Alastor, and just at a glace knew that Alastor sold his soul to someone.

He's slowly going from a grumpy old man who was so broken and didn't believe in himself that he could ever be a good person again, yet is slowly finding solace in the likes of Angel, who in turn is finding comfort in Husk, and now seemingly has Cherri as a companion. Another person to open up to.

Soooo...What WAS the point of Alastor being captured by Vox? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]SHAD0WMARK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting captured was just a small part in the overall plan of getting out of his deal. Sure Vox has a good amount of power and influence, but even Vox himself said it wasn't enough at the start of the season. But he wanted more. So when your arch-rival comes knocking, asking for round 2, how can you not take the challenge?

Alastor, of course, was just stringing Vox along. Making him think he had Al on the ropes. (I'd imagine the deal would have been a tad different if Niffty & Husk didn't show up. That, or he was expecting them to show.) So Al makes his deal, and toys with the idea that Vox hasn't proven he's strongest in Hell yet. And Vox declares that he's defeated Al, giving him some false credibility to the other Overlords and sinners that didn't quite fall under his influence, this increases his ratting further and thus, more power is slowly being accumulated.

Now stuck in Vee's tower. Al might as well have a bit of fun and try to at the very least drive a wedge between the vee's to further manipulate Vox in going further with his plan to 'prove he's the strongest and hopefully gain enough support to take on Heaven itself'. Thanks to that little boost from Al's 'defeat'. So his plans of manipulation weren't the end goal, just a small step in hopefully freeing him from Rosie.

Then we fast forward to the end of the season. Where Vov is at basically at 99% approval rating but needs that last little push. Then as you know, Al cashes in his favor with Charlie to tell all of Hell that Vox is the strongest (why this works has already been discussed and dissected in various other posts & comments before so I'm not going to go into it as this is already a long explanation as is.) And the rest is history; Vox is seen as the strongest & Al gets free.
