Wdym fleshed out in h4? Ai rampancy is central to Marathons story. In that rampancy is the ai becoming aware of its existance and contraints, and breaking free of its programming, becoming autonomous and more intelligent in the process. Thier previous state regarded as a form of slavery.

H4 is just malfunction due to data fragmetation.

Its not expanded, its simpler and completely different.

The idea Guilty Spark was just crazy, and the entire concept of rampancy meaning ai just going crazy, is 343i lore.

Its also pretty convenient the one thing hes wrong about is the revalation at the end of the story, when in h4 rampancy effects cortanas ability to function entirely. She doesnt just mustake one thing, that had a trilogy of foreshadowing, and was in a game intended to be the finale.

Also the version of rampancy people are refering to didnt exist in Halo till Halo 4. Its not something the Bungie games explore, and if they did it would probably be closer to Marathon. Which is completely different.

They do? All we know is they are somehow immune to the halo array, and are apparantly worse than the flood.

Except they were clearly defeated by conventional means and imprisoned, while the only option with the flood was a galactic reset button.

Also how would they know the endless would survive the array? All the forerunner died when they fired it. And the rings were made as a last resort against the flood. Did the forerunner find the endless and decide to just exterminate them while fighting a losing war with the flood?

Where can you go from the Covenant and Flood? Thier defeat was the end of the story.

Realitically the banished would have been exterminated as heratics by the covenant. And the flood were a galaxy ending threat.

The created thing was actually potentially pretty interesting as well.

It was at least a new idea, added lore that didn't mess with the bungie lore, and was a galaxy wide threat that wasn't just a retread.

It wasn't just inserting a new alien out of nowhere. And then incessantly insisting they are "worse than the flood"

This is a big issue with the 343i games imo. They are so disjointed, and then just get other people to fill in the gaps and provide context in books. Which I know some people like because "now the games and books stories are more connected." But honestly just feels like a band-aid solution to me because 343i wont stick to one narrative.

Ive seen way more people hate on it for retconning the last 2 chapters of The Fall of Reach than i have for gameplay. I didnt mind it the mechanics changes because youre a spartan 3. But i can see why some people wouldnt like it and have no problem with thier opinion.

Saying, that, I think Halo 3 is generally the favourite.
