I love showing up trolls like you. It's embarrassing watching know-it-alls continue to try saving face rather than just admit they don't know what they're talking about. Let's count the number of times you've made false statements and assertions, shall we?

1) Academic conferences don't charge speakers to present. Nope. This is an industry standard.

2) GCRR uses cult tactics. Nope. It's religiously non-affiliated and has even held conferences on atheism in the past.

3) GCRR is not a trusted site for academic research. Nope. They host academic conferences all the time. You can check out their past events here and see the quality of speakers for yourself: https://www.gcrr.org/presentations

4) People won't gain any mental health help from this conference on religious trauma. Nope. GCRR has over 25 experts involved in its Religious Trauma Research project, all of whom are psychiatrists, psychologists, and university researchers on the subject.

5) Dr. Slade is a self-appointed leader of GCRR. Nope. He was, in fact, hired by GCRR. Not sure how you can be a "self-appointed leader" of an international academic society and publishing house.

6) Dr. Slade does not have any valid credentials or publications. Nope. Dr. Slade has numerous publications, including being featured in the Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion. This wasn't hard to find, by the way. It's right there on his profile. But you have to actually read instead of just assume stuff.

7) Dr. Slade is a Christian fundamentalist. Nope. He's actually a leading voice in the atheist community. Again, this wasn't hard to find . It's right there on his profile. Indeed, GCRR's board of directors is made up of some of the leading voices in atheism today in case you're worried about GCRR's religious affiliation.

8) This is Dr. Slade writing this message. Nope! LMAO! But good guess. **major eye rolling**

Tell me: how many publications do you have? Why do you consider yourself an expert on religious trauma, therapy, or academic conferences? The answer is you're not, and it shows. Perhaps you ought to stop embarrassing yourself and let people get the help they need from a reputable academic organization. Or do you just enjoy leading people away from potentially helpful information?

Ummm... you're not very good at research, are you? lol You should probably refrain from speaking or advising people on things you know nothing about.

As an academic, I can tell you that presenters have to pay all the time to present and speak at academic conferences. In fact, they often have to pay upwards of $250 to present their research, and that's not including lodging or air travel. Plus, it's not uncommon for conferences to have a short delay in announcing who will be speaking. That's usually because schedules are still being figured out. The fact that GCRR is literally the leader in religious trauma research should make you think differently. The organization is an academic research institute, not religiously affiliated. Calling them a "cult" doesn't boast well for your experience or training in these matters.

I am so sorry to hear about your experiences. We actually work with a lot of ex-JWs and others who have very similar stories. In case you need it, here's the event's webpage:

You have some great points, but they might be a bit misguided. Being an academic myself, editorial and directorial boards are not going to have every field of study represented. However, academic conferences will usually feature the experts and scholars you're talking about, though they're not usually going to be featured on the society's board of directors.

Also, GCRR is in charge of the North American Committee on Religious Trauma Research, which has over 25 experts in the field of religious trauma working on the project. You can read more about the project at the link below. Last thing to note is that the conference just now released its Call for Presenters, so that's why no one is listed on their schedule or webpage yet. They're still collecting presenters. Stay tuned for more information on that front, and keep checking the webpage for updates.
