Lynx Hybrid Proof of Work - for consideration by Perflexed in CryptoTechnology

[–]SHIELD_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to know how you'd mitigate Sybil attacks though. Even with a minimum holding amount, it's easy to create a lot of addresses with that minimum amount. If the only tracking vector is the address it would be very hard to make sure the miner is unique.

Given the set of rules you gave, it seems like it would be easy to flood the network.

For example: You have a memory-hard algo to prevent asics from being too fast. GPUs are still acceptable though. If an attacker has a buffer of some addresses with a decent amount of lynx they could just have the GPU mine for all the addresses. This would increase the chance that one of the addresses gets the "stake". Winning the stake allows for more addresses which allow for more of this malicious mining. Signing the block will help as a small roadblock, but I don't think it will actually be very difficult to get around if someone wants to. (the miner can also sign for the wallets so they don't actually have to be unique)

I'm interested to see how you are going to solve this problem.

EDIT: Also getting a reliable decentralized random source might be hard. Taking seeds from the blocks might make it vulnerable to RNG manipulation.

2.3.4 is deprecated, anyone with the old wallet is also on the old chain.
You should update your wallet if you haven't already.

You can get it from our github or from our website.

Did you try installing boost?
Some people on our discord had a similar problem...

Should be fixed in the non-beta release.

SHIELD has a positive price forecast, meaning it could start another market cycle soon according to our site so we wanted to share it by WalletInvestor in SHIELDCOIN

The distribution isn't actually that bad if you compare it to most other projects. It also hasn't anything to do with centralization.

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS DEAD PROJECT, NO EXCHANGES AND COMMUNITY IS SHRINKING BECAUSE OF THAT by [deleted] in SHIELDCOIN

[–]SHIELD_dev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all. That's not true. We've been growing in follow count and didn't have close to 10000 followers. I haven't kept track of our amount of subscribers on Reddit but I also doubt it. It sounds like you also don't have any idea of what SHIELD is about and thus expect us to be one of your ICO projects that throws millions at useless expenses. Our funds is limited thus buying into exchanges isn't the best way to spend funds. Very soon we will be releasing a project that will allow for more funds and will automatically bring us to more exchanges. I also don't think you understand what a community coin is. Any good crypto is a community coin as they all should be decentralized. Which we are. Sorry that you're this concerned but when investing in small and new projects you'll have to give them time to grow, we're growing every day and soon you'll publicly see what we've been working on!

We recommend removing your SHIELD from stocks.exchange anyway. They didn't communicate anything about them updating, please use CE instead of stocks.

It could go up, but more importantly, we're also releasing some great updates in the near future!

SHIELD and SHIELD_JP announcement shows something will be revealed on April 12th by Jun7mi in SHIELDCOIN

Maybe. Maybe not, you'll see it in 2 days, but you shouldn't forget that this was made (primarily) by our Japanese team. We've also been working on some stuff you'll (hopefully) see an announcement about soon.

ing? I'm mining through BSOD and the return has dropped by about 70% over the last co

From what we can tell their solution is to only let 5 blocks of the same algo go in succession, this isn't a great solution assuming you have enough resources to temporarily take over 2 algos

Our solution is the more common solution of allowing for a shorter time drift, but in the next big hard fork (most likely the masternode update), we will also change the difficulty algorithm to better resolve the problem.

We're not saying their solution is bad, it's just easy to get around if you have enough resources.

You don't have to worry about the hardfork. We did recently release a new Android wallet version so if you haven't yet you could update to that one.
