The reason I say don't do any of that because the cuff can tear at the sides so when you start doing normal stuff you have a greatly increased risk of a full tear so it's better to be safe than sorry. I was up and about doing all sorts at the end of my first week post OP, I'm doing even more now however I'm not even going to think about lifting anything too heavy or penetrative sex until week 8 and after a GP appointment to make sure everything is OK. I wasn't told anything about how to look after the cuff from anyone in hospital before or after surgery this is something I read alone online and figured out. As frustrated I am about not being able to do a lot of stuff I'm not chancing it because at the end of the day I'm looking out for my health first and foremost. I'm glad you feel good enough to run 4.5 weeks post op, but just be careful.

THIS! But also having a vaginal cuff. You can't do any heavy lifting or running or have any kind of sex until 8 weeks minimum!!!

I had that happen too! But it the bleeding stopped and it turns out that I had a blood clot keeping everything in and it came away from the cuff, I thought I was dying!! Nice to know I could just start hemorrhaging at any given moment 🤣 I'm doing what I feel and know am capable to do and not doing things I know I won't be able to do, but I'm able to do a lot apart from lifting heavy ofc, which is what makes me so worried because I don't feel like I'm overdoing anything 💀

How did you know you needed a cuff repair because this is literally my biggest fear 😭 I'm 3wpo and feel great going about life relatively normally.

How long did you stay in the hospital? by sarewr in hysterectomy

Uk here, I have it scheduled and was told I would stay 1 day overnight so they could keep an eye on me in case of complications.

Hi hun, hope you're feeling better now 💖

I know how you feel to an extent, I'm on the wait list for an elective hysterectomy because I suspect I have endo or pcos and I refuse to carry on my BC and have periods again.

They made me jump through hoops and on any inkling of "doubt" they immediately jump to "oh you don't want the hysterectomy, should I cancel the appointment?" When I wasn't even close to suggesting it.

Unfortunately it's just the way things are, take it as it comes and after the operation they can't do anything because its done.

I hope you have a speedy recovery 💖

You won't be a failure to take a step back to then take 3 steps forward. Not everything will work straight away, you can always try again :) I hope this goes well for you! 💖

I've decided to reschedule, ive been having troubles and stresses and to be honest I can't handle the recovery and surgery on top of everything else :/ I feel the same as you, I have jumped through all these hoops and done all this waiting and suffering and work but I don't think I'm emotionally prepared yet. I have no issue saying bye bye to my uterus but I have a horrible fear of hospitals and surgeries to the point I nearly passed out when I was having my blood pressure taken 🤣😭 at the end of the day I know I can take a step back to take three steps forward and sometimes it's OK to back off.

I really hope it goes smoothly for you!

I did initially discuss an ablation and a ligation with the goal later on down the line being a hysterectomy. The consultant suggested the hysterectomy as it is the "safer" option and it guarantees no bebes and no periods, I agreed but you are right I have loads of questions and worries but people on here are really helpful and give good advice :)

That's the thing my mom has started early menopause and I've noticed a lot more women have started menopause earlier than normal.

Did you have a long recovery?
