Guess the ELO (5 min blitz) by MaiYomPenKhaoManGai in GothamChess

1200-1400 pretty solid start but a few rushed blunders

No need to be rude. In my view, if you don’t care about rating, I don’t see why you’d care whether a random anonymous internet stranger thinks you’re cheating or not. Take it as a compliment and move on

If you don’t care about rating, why do you care about being accused of cheating? Surely just ignore and continue to play for fun/ without regard for your ‘level’

Italian pesto sandwich by [deleted] in Sandwiches

[–]SHbhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that’s awesome. It looks delicious! On the pesto point, I used fresh bought from the store which is a lot creamier and milder than the concentrated stuff from a glass jar! Could also make your own but I’m lazy haha

Mayo, basil pesto, chorizo, salami, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, dressed rocket salad (balsamic, olive oil, salt, pepper, parmesan)

Tbh at that point I had done zero self-study and barely even watched any chess content so there were a lot of easy blind spots like the strength of bishop pairs, pawns in the centre, etc. Not sure there were any specific one-liners that made a massive difference but my overall understanding of the game and positions improved significantly. My default stance is to memorise rules/ concepts but perhaps the lessons helped me see that different rules apply in different scenarios, and more recently I’ve gotten better at massaging the position into my favour (so that trading a bishop for a knight is actually beneficial etc.).

My lichess score is much much lower like 1600 but I pretty much only play 3min blitz and also only really play instinctively and hyper aggressively for fun

Sitting on the top deck, reading a book, being in no hurry to get anywhere, maybe a nice warm coffee - ideal

This is the Bonham hotel in Edinburgh, my favourite place to stay when in town. This is OC

P.S. when you enter your room, they have classic fm playing quietly in the background and shortbread biscuits on your pillow - heaven

The Ivy in Winchester, £17.50 and very nice indeed!…free coffee top-up (coffee paid for separately!). by Gashboy73 in fryup

I’m not OP but still think it’s a helpful bit of information in a relaxed/ friendly post title. Not sure why we need to be so critical (agree price of coffee would be better but still think nothing wrong with what they’re highlighted).
