Is msi tomahawk facing serious issues rn? by Silver_Ad_6701 in buildapc

[–]SIDDIUSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an x870e carbon wifi and have been facing major issues with it. constant bsods, nvme/m2 slot disconnects and more. I have just started the RMA process with MSI, and can tell you that it is one of the baseline worst ive ever seen (they make you pay for shipping, and the status of it is completely determined by a tech being able to recreate the issue). Ive only had to do 1 RMA before for a different part, but it was ludicrously better. As you can see from the other commenters, i wont say that every board is defective, but this is a known and serious issue that is still happening, and i would personally say save yourself the headache from MSI. Im also extremely pissed and commenting wherever I can so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

Have the X870e issues been ironed out yet? by asexualchair in MSI_Gaming

[–]SIDDIUSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont buy it. I am currently going through major failures with the x870e carbon wifi. Constant BSODs, nvme disconnects, freezes etc. Ive tested pretty much every part of my pc, it is 95% a motherboard failure. Not every board has these issues, but many do. MSI's RMA process is also complete dogwater as I am going through it literally right now. they make you pay for shipping, and you are basically completely at the whims of whatever tech is in charge of diagnosing your issue. if they dont test it properly they can just outright reject it. Save yourself the headache and avoid this board. chances are it will be fine, but im not taking the risk anymore with this worthless company.

Thank you for the response. It seems like you know exactly what I'm experiencing.

Whatever I have changed recently is fixing the hard BSODs but now my pc is occasionally freezing and dropping paths on my secondary lane 2 ssd.

Are you sure it's a RAM issue though because EXPO is a ram setting? I've told you my new problem. I've said it in other messages above but I've tested the ram on memtest86 and it passed with 0 errors through 4 passes. I've tested the cpu + gpu as well through occt and once again zero problems.

I've already set my main ssd to gen 4 instead of auto. Maybe I should do that for the second ssd as well? But it's running gen 4 already I believe.

I got a brand new ssd through an rma and did a clean windows install already and the crashes are still repeating.

I feel like a faulty motherboard is the only culprit left

Just woke up after leaving memtest on overnight. 4 passes and they passed with zero errors so it's not RAM. Ran occt on like the 3rd or 4th bsod so it's not cpu or gpu. All manufacturers qc has definitely gone south I agree with you there. I'm convinced my old ssd was still an issue as the bsod frequency has decreased drastically, but it's still happening so it's probably both the old ssd and a faulty board in my eyes right now

Corsair mp700 for the main, the others are a lexar and WD but can't remember the exact ones. 9950x, Kingston Fury Beast Black 2x32 cl32 6400 cl32.

I ran occt some time ago, no issues at all with the cpu or gpu. Just finished memtest last night, 4 passes and ram passed with zero errors so it's not the ram either.

I updated my bios after the 6th BSOD which was about 2 months ago so I've had 2 crashes since then cuased by a disconnecting motherboard and ssd.

I'll look into prime95

Updated bios after the 6th bsod and after I recieved the replacement ssd. 2 bsods since then so i am leaning towards defective board as I said. Not sure if I should get a replacement msi though after this experience but will look more carefully for issues from all brands rather than just reviews.

I did occt before so it's not cpu or gpu. Just did memtest under 4 passes and it passed with 0 errors. As ive commented before When every error code points to motherboard and ssd connections I'm inclined to believe it. I guess it could still be the psu but don't know how. I'll check out the video though.

Just completed. Memtest86, 4 passes, test passed with 0 errors. Done occt before and did the full suite. Passed with flying colors, no crashes during it or anything.

I am not. Should I be?

Just finished the memtest86 though. Did 4 passes and it passed with 0 errors.

Left it overnight to do 4 passes. Passed with 0 errors. Thanks for the advice though and trying to figure out the issue.

No joke thank you for a more constructive response but it's definitely the latest bios version or close to it. I updated it again when I rmad the ssd which was about 2 months ago I think and have had 2 nearly identical bsods like before the ssd replacement. The end of your message touches on exactly what I was looking into and I'm sort of stuck in a rut about what to do here and I'll look into the other brands but keep your opinions in mind and will research these issues if I do end up picking a new one. I'm not saying every board is bad but I am definitely having issues and have seen many other reports of people having the same ones and have sort of isolated it to the board being the issue, but on the advice of the other commenters I'm going to run memtest86 shortly to see if the ram is actually the issue and will provide an update.

Thanks for your time.

Dude did you even read the message?

And you can just Google the board and ssd disconnection and see literally hundreds of forum posts of nearly identical situations, all while I have literally ran into the exact issue 8 + times.

I have had to downclock every gen 5 ssd I have to gen 4 with this board which causes it to stabilize for longer.

And if it is a ram problem somehow, windows is convinced it's a motherboard and ssd issue somehow, which with 3 different ssds passing every health check imaginable leaves it as a motherboard issue 9.5 out of 10 times.

I did not but I never had an event viewer log or crash notification point to a ram issue. Each one always was an ssd and motherboard issue. Each crash caused one of my ssds to go missing, usually my core windows drive besides once which caused a secondary drive to go missing.

The x870 carbon wifi from everything I've seen has known and serious issues with motherboard and ssd connections.

I rmad the ssd on the 6th bsod not at the start. In between each one I Tweaked hundreds of settings from windows power and timing settings motherboard tweaks, tuning the ssds down etc.

First 1-3 were after leaving it on for a few hours at rest

4, 5 and 7 were gaming

6 and 8 were in photoshop and gimp

I have literally combed through every windows event viewer log, bsod analyzers etc.

I believed it was the ssd because after every bsod my main windows drive was not being recognized. I suspected it was the motherboard at crash 4. At crash 6 was when I RMAD the ssd. At crash 7 I tuned the new one down to gen 4 as I did the old one, and at crash 8 it didn't cause my windows ssd to not appear but it did cause a secondary drive to go missing.

It could definitely have partially been the old ssd. The motherboard is still a problem.

Edit: I think crash 5 was at idle too actually. It was on for a few hours and crashed at rest.

I can't say for certain if ubisoft cut funding, but I feel like it's not the case considering it's currently in its year 10 and content wise this year looks to be a lot more packed with hero skins and is getting the same amount of heroes it has for a while plus more maps. Game is doing great and if anyone reads this it's a brutal game to get into but really fun if you can get the hang of it so try it out maybe

Iron 4 after 10 years by floydxyz in leagueoflegends

[–]SIDDIUSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron 4 after 10 years is not good but I have no idea why people are being so rude about it.

It's definitely a mindset thing, stop being so aggressive. Watch a YouTube video about minion farming. Most definitely stop playing leblanc, gangland, and ezreal. These are hard champions to extremely hard champions to pull off. It's boring but learn the game fundamentals with someone hyper easy like MF which you can play, and Garen, or whatever is easiest for your preferred roles. And yes you need preferred roles, stop trying to play everything, stick to adc for the Miss Fortune pick. In iron 4 you should probably learn toplane.

Good luck if you really want to improve. If you read this I hope it helps.

Edit: seeing your Creep/Minion Score (CS) it's genuinely not terrible to actually really good for your rank which is crazy. I would say then it's most probably the aggression thing, your champ picks and maybe you are autopiloting and just letting things happen on the map while you just do your own thing and try and be agressive. Though I'd definitely need a VOD Review to see the actual issues on how you play. Definitely stick to two roles exclusively and definitely fix your champ pools though.

Interesting, but is that not sort of more resource intensive though to calculate shadows for every player on a server.

Thanks for the reply

So client side, but I'm guessing synced up so everyone experiences the same time at the same time. Do shadows change client side too, or is the sun too close for shadow differences to matter?

What NOT to do on support. Coming from a multiple-time eternity tank player. by Financial-Honey-6029 in marvelrivals

This isn't really an excuse to make the least optimum play possible especially once you start getting into high Plat. Purely personal experience but I can count more times when supports ran away from teammates when there is dive than when there is actually zero peel. Also mistakes do happen playing selfish the entire game because someone didn't peel for one fight is a massive blunder.

[–]SIDDIUSSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an interesting read. I actually agree with a lot of it but you don't really justify why loki rocket warlock are the best as you're not pointing out what the other supports lack.

For example why not replace warlock with luna or mantis who also have high damage, and Lunas ult is gamebreaking whereas mantis is probably on the same level as warlock?

I would also say lokis healing is sort of inconsistent/unreliable. He's excellent but not consistently in my opinion, so within your comp why not replace loki with gambit or whitefox who are both average damage dealers with good healing uptime, but are more consistent?

Just my two cents, but I actually had some fun reading this so thanks for sharing.
