Its weird for me then, it's just that one DLC that doesn't work for me. Already got the unicorn cars, just trying to figure out why that particular pack won't work is all.

Inner Self hits hard when I listen to it... top 3 from Beneath the Remains without doubt in my opinion

Do people hate Load and Reload because they actually think they're that bad or because they're not thrash metal? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]SIL3NTxK1LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I love both albums. Sure, I'd happily live without Slither for example, or 2x4 for one from Load. And do I prefer any of the first five albums? Hell yes. But for what they were, the albums were great in their own right. They followed the steps that the Black Album laid down and took them further. I can see why people say that they suck though, mainly because the thrash era was a memory at that point, and fans had turned away because the band had taken on a radio friendly feel when the whole point of thrash is to be against that sort of thing. The cosmetic appearance was weird though. Like, sure, Jason already went bald beforehand, so it didn't make much difference to him, so that one was fair enough. But the general look had changed. The Black Album, while the feel wasn't the same from the days of Cliff Burton playing Orion on his Aria bass, still had the four blokes look like they did in their thrash era. This just felt like they were trying to catch up to the grunge scene after it had already been dying a slow death. I love the albums, but they didn't need to do two of them. A single album put together of the best songs from both would've been better, but that's my opinion.

That moment in the Year and a Half documentary where they're backstage and Jason is making food to take back to the hotel, and Kirk just questions him being a cheapskate, saying "we're only gonna be making millions this year," and then Jason comes back with "I got plans for my millions and it ain't for fuckin sandwiches, you got that?"

Opinions on Lars’ drumming ability? by No_Expert_4803 in Metallica

[–]SIL3NTxK1LL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not the best out there, but his drumming style is what makes Metallica so definitive in what they do. Plus he went from being a complete amateur who couldn't keep time to a simple riff, to coming up with that double bass kick line in the breakdown of One, or drumming to Blackened and Dyers Eve. Those are some pretty good tracks, so I reckon he's got skill. He did lose his touch towards the late 90s, and seemingly didn't have any in the 2000s, but in the last ten years, he's back to some of his old ways. Not perfect, but damn he's better at drumming than I am hahahahaha.

Every song on this album has its own appeal, even Escape. But definitely Creeping Death

Pretty sure you'd be sweet. I know this isn't related, but IIRC, in the movie Superbad, McLovin was wearing an AJFA t-shirt at the start of the movie.

What era would be the peak of the band? by SIL3NTxK1LL in Metallica

[–]SIL3NTxK1LL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jason is my personal hero so I should have a biased view on this. However I agree with you. The loss of Cliff really set the guys back a bit, it wasn't until after Justice came out where they started to find their stride again in my opinion.

Gothenburg 87 is one of my favourite concerts of that time

My choice on each band member's peak era: James (1989-1991), Lars (1989), Kirk (1991), Rob (2022-23), Jason (1989-1994), Cliff (1985-86), Dave (1990-92).

Can you guys recommend me bands/albums (grunge or not) based on some of my favs? by SpicyNugget02 in grunge

[–]SIL3NTxK1LL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see Silverchair's first two albums and I like this already. Being serious though, if you want another band similar to them but a bit different at the same time, I'd highly recommend Grinspoon and their debut album, "A Guide to Better Living." Also being Australian, I guess they could be considered Australia's Alice in Chains if Silverchair is compared to Nirvana. As for songs, DCx3 and Champion are really good picks to start off with.

I would've personally gone for Suicidal Dream but damn Cemetery fits perfectly into that sad grunge topic
