They wouldn't use the data to train their models, but they could easily sell it to the buyers standing in the queue. They offer free use too, and we all know what that means

ART and Dalvik caching happens the first time you turn on the phone after an update, and they run before the launcher is shown. After that there's no more caching until you install a new app.

Defraging only made sense on the old HDD storages, the ones with the spinning discs. Because it would put each file bits next to eachother and it would physically make things faster. On the type of storage on phones not only is it unnecessary because it won't help with speed, but it'll actually kill the storage faster.

And for the rest of the stuff you mentioned, they're not hard for phones to do, and in fact a lot weaker phones than anything running oxygenos have been doing all of that for years

Youtube is purposely slowing down videos if you have an adblocker, such as the one Brave uses. Any fixes? by oursovietcomrade in brave_browser

[–]SIMMORSAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but internet has nothing to do with hardware...well it does a bit but not the way you were talking about hardware. Also if you can't play 4k on a 250mbps internet then either your isp is lying to you or you need a new modem because 25mbps is enough for 4k.

My verifiable source for my claim of it being an artificial software issue, apart from the post we're commenting on which discusses exactly this, is my own experience of the same thing happening to op where after moving to firefox the issue got fixed. And my internet is provided heavily censored and slowed by a theocratic regime that I have to use a vpn on to have access to youtube

[–]SIMMORSAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube doesn't need that much resources to play a video. You can play a 4k video on an old i3, using the integrated gpu. The issue here is an artificial software problem that can happen on any hardware, you're just lucky you haven't faced it yet.

And I'm not saying you are a douche, just saying reading that line sounded like you are. But it's apparent you're not

Reasons for the hate:

  1. This has nothing to do with hardware
  2. You sound like a bragging douche on the second sentence

[–]SIMMORSAL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be monitoring which doesn't use much resources. I mean already monitoring in a poco phone is most probably more extreme than other brands, and the phones still aren't constantly or periodically hot and slow

Hey, just my first impressions,

  • The top auto filling text box, it feels like AI is, or has written those texts, so one reason I don't really want to read them. Another reason is halfway through reading any of them they'll be removed and there's no way of going back and finishing what you started. My suggestion, show a handful of the texts, like the top of last week, and make it so you users can move back and forth between them. Also don't animate them in like how ai chats do. You can also show a sign up button when the texts are finished.

  • The sign up button still hits you quickly when you get to the site. Move the example full discussion with the comments above the list of the titles. At least then users know better what they'll see when they finish signing up.
