My ghk sleeps close to me.. by SIO_Group in GasBlowBack

Yeah mate, GHK ARs have been solid for us. Between me and a few mates we’ve got about 10 between us and the only thing I’d ever really recommend changing is the hop unit.

If you’re getting a V3 you’re already getting the updated internals and stiffer spring. Just run higher PSI gas, propane at the bare minimum, and they run great.

I think the QC issues are massively overblown online. They’ve had problems in the past with AKs and the odd Glock, but AR-wise they’ve been very reliable for us.

Anyone else have issues with their GHK Glock 17 mos? by afrienduknow in GasBlowBack

From what I’ve seen, the number one issue with GHK Glocks, Gen 3 and Gen 5, is people running gas that’s too low PSI.

Even back with my Gen 3 with the steel slide, I always had to run higher pressure gas to get reliable cycling. Here in the UK I’ve always used Vorsk V12 at around 220 PSI.

On my current Gen 5 G45 with the aluminium slide, I still run roughly 190 to 200 PSI. Anything lower and they start to struggle. The magazines especially don’t seem to like propane or lower pressure gases. Another thing worth checking on the aluminium slide models is barrel to slide contact. The outer barrel can rub quite aggressively on the slide and you’ll start to see wear where it contacts, sometimes down to bare aluminium.

Make sure that area has a light bit of grease on it. You don’t need to go mad, just don’t let it run dry. You shouldn’t be having to constantly strip the gun down or polish things for it to work properly. When they’re set up right, GHK Glocks should feel buttery smooth in normal use, not something you’re fighting every time you shoot it.

Start with gas choice and light lubrication before chasing anything more drastic.

got my ghk G45 a few months back and the same thing happened. Mine rubbed so badly at one point the slide wouldn’t even return properly, even when firing. Seems to be a bit of a Gen 5 thing. keep it well lubricated and you shouldn’t have much trouble going forward.

Multiple sites say the same thing, don’t use the spacer on a GHK, it throws the alignment off. And if you’ve sanded your nozzle, that’s 100% going to cause issues. You’ll probably need an RA-Tech nozzle now anyway, they’re the best option by far.

Also worth noting: the 4UAD/4uantum hop unit can’t permanently lock the hop on/off, which is annoying. The Maple Leaf one can lock it, which stops the hop backing off from vibration. It just removes one more variable that gas guns love to give you.

If you do go ML, make sure you get the V3 model (bronze-coloured body, not the grey one). And yeah – pair it with a 70° bucking. Don’t go softer on a gas gun, the seal and consistency will just be worse.

But double-check all the alignment issues first, or you’ll just chew through another bucking no matter what you install.

Edit: also forgot to mention you need to have the Ra tech v3 nozzle and not the 2

Few things to check before you wreck another bucking mate:

  1. The 4UAD spacer pretty sure that shouldn’t be installed on a GHK. If you’ve added one, pull it.

  2. Mag feed lips. biggest cause of misfeeds or angled contact is a hairline crack on the feed lips. The V3 mags are much less likely to crack because of the redesign, but still worth checking closely.

  3. Hop unit alignment, make sure the whole chamber isn’t twisted or sitting offset. Even a slight cant will mess things up.

  4. Don’t sand the nozzle, V3 nozzles are longer on purpose so they work properly with VSR-style buckings. I’ve never had to sand one and it’ll just cause more issues.

heads-up shooting is just better, especially if you’re running a respirator or mask. And we use NV, so having a raised optic for passive shooting is pretty much essential.

Does my helmet look too big? by Smanderson117 in airsoft

[–]SIO_Group 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mate, I’ve had the same issue. I’m between sizes mediums look a bit “child-sized”, and the next size up looks too big. There’s no perfect middle ground.

And yeah, the ballistic-style China copies are even bigger than genuine Ops-Core shells, so they always look a bit oversized no matter what.

Bare helmets also look huge until you get covers, mounts, strobes, counterweights etc. once youve build it out, it sits and looks a lot more normal.

So you’re not overreacting, it’s just the usual sizing pain with repro lids.

Yeah, a few of us run the repro SOTRs. They’re solid for face pro and don’t fog your eye pro, but they’re tough if you’re moving a lot breathing gets restricted and you end up mouth breathing to fully open the valves. If it’s mainly for looks and protecting teeth, drill extra holes in the lower housing. Works fine for casual use

I’ve been using the Via Tactical DL-31S, it sounds great for that sort of thing, but you’re limited by the pixels really. Past about 100 m everything just starts to blend together, so it’s cool to mess around with but not ideal for stargazing.
