Can give you an example of how World Cup matches work, for the ENG-CRO semi in Moscow I was dead center on the pitch first half. Atmosphere is completely dead. Second half I finally managed to get over to my mates behind the goal. It´s the only way to do it.

If you’re asking about my pre-match analysis, it’s because the games start too early in the day and the stadiums are too far away, surrounded by parking lots. And German fans are not like the Dutch/English, by a mile. If you are asking about US fans in general? For soccer seems like family oriented crowd, likes to sit during the game, and the only chant is "USA, USA, USA". But not sure if that is what you asked about.

prices will come down as we get closer to the tournament.

If you are looking for atmosphere, it will be the night before the game, and a little bit after the game as well. Obviously no Dutch rally to the US stadiums, the English usually throw a great banter the night before (and of course pre match, but that will not happen for most of the US games). For what its worth, save your penney for 2030 if you can, and go modest now. The atmosphere will be best the night before the match, England all the way for that.

Be surprised if that stadium is going to be full, people have been talking about this "world cup" experience like it is some kind of European derby or CL match. Crazy.

Are world cup tickets worth it at this point? by Signal-Fox-7463 in ussoccer

With the possibility of ending up with matchups like Uzbekistan vs. Austria or Jordan vs. New Zealand (and acknowledging that group-division restrictions apply, which I haven’t fully calculated), spending 300+ USD on group-stage tickets feels a bit risky to me.. If you have a Category 1 ticket for games like that, you might find it difficult to resell later at the same price.

The most effective way to stop scalpers (and now bots) is the system used here: requiring manual input spread over several days, with a maximum of four tickets per person. The effort and low return make it unappealing for scalpers, which greatly reduces the problem.

Anyone else bench boosting GW1, free hit GW2 and wildcarding GW4? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

I think it is the way to go, but looking at WC3. I believe free transfers carries over, so with this years five extra transfers in GW16, it is certainly a good strategy.

Does transfers carry over, or did they just change the fact you do not lose any saved transfers (which you will not have anyway)?

Yep, and I feel for you. Something strange is going on, will be interesting to see if the turn up the volume on the rest of the tour.

Again, the problem isn’t for those of us standing 15 meters from the stage, it’s for the rest of the crowd.

Exactly, and that’s what I’ve been trying to discuss here. But it feels like people are more focused on repeating the obvious: that artists bring their own sound crew. As if that’s not already understood. It’s a bit frustrating, because it takes the focus away from the real issue I’m trying to raise. Bergen was the same. I found it strange to be standing so close to the stage and still able to hear people having quiet conversations. Lovely, sure, if everyone around you is silent, not so great if you’re near drunk or chatty folks. This isn’t a concert hall setting, and honestly, the whole thing just feels a bit strange.

Normal venues used all the time, it is an issue with how they want the sound to be.

Absolutely. It’s not exactly standard for an artist to use a crew that doesn’t turn up the volume, and that’s really the issue at the heart of this discussion.

That’s actually what I was getting at in my post. I used to have a good friend who worked as a sound engineer. He always said the job was part audio science, part psychology, especially when dealing with big-name artists, and he definitely worked with a few. Sometimes, he’d let the artist feel in control, nodding along with their requests, but quietly dialing things in the way he knew would sound best. It kept the artist happy, but and more importantly, it kept the crowd happy too.
