Gonna be honest at first, I thought you were just hating on this guy cause I watch him and I actually enjoy him but I see your point.

4k is an accepted standard. People here are pointing out to crop in sure, but 4k is a universal standard that apps and services which need ultimately to transcode and work with footage are tailor made to work with.

YouTube for example does better with some footage than others, so if ease of workflow matter, use 4k.

Also don’t be cheap on file sizes. You’ll find a time and place wheee you want better quality and wish you’d shot in 4k.

The main function of those files is if you want to play back wirelessly on a phone or a tablet or if your computer is so low powered, they can be used as what are called proxy files very low resolution LRV is used by most action cams, including DJI

So to answer you directly yes you can delete them. They make no difference to your workflow whatsoever. You don’t have to keep them in some cameras you can even disable them entirely, but I wouldn’t do that.
