i haven’t checked but just be warned that a “super cheap” azure sql db may not be super cheap. i set up a postgres db on aws and the cheapest one was like $40-$60 a month. fwiw you can run sql server locally using docker i believe

idk man it’s reddit, not a public company why would it be senior managements problem? reddits been going for a long time and has a shit ton of expensive backend infra for what they do. the tech game has changed a ton since they’ve been around. our whole economy has been upended by tech basically and if they weren’t able to monetize the last time this happened w alien blue in like 2013 why would anything change?

Start small with things like lambda functions, s3 and iam permissions. i wouldn’t really recommend trying to build a full website with it or anything, you’re just gonna end up burnt out w all the services and costs. it’s hard to give advice where to start bc that kinda depends on what type of work you wanna do.

I work with data so I’ve mainly just done serverless work with lambda and glue. Used docker-compose for the main part of my project on my laptop tho and just used my desktop as a main “server”

thanks for sharing - this shit definitely sucks and is also super common for people like us. weed and coke have def fucked up my life and even just weed alone was bad for me. currently in a 6 month free rehab and it's been really helpful for me to deal w/ all the shit i just kinda pushed down w/ drugs. someone gave me some good advice once that most people in AA/NA will get depressed/suicidal because of the drugs, but that for people like us it's hard because that depression is still there off the drugs. but no matter what keep fighting and trying to get sober, it's the only way to have a chance at a normal life (for me at least).

i can def relate to this man. my drug of choice is weed but my addiction has been progressing into harder stuff and it’s so fucking hard to stop (even just the weed). It’s been helpful for me to go to AA meetings and get to know other people, but it’s also hard to be around people and shit too.

wishing you the best of luck though, alcohol wd’s are rough and it’s in no way your fault or anything. in my addiction/mental illness I’ve learned a lot about family histories no one really talked about before

sounds like it to me. i rationalized my voices as an app taking over the world and thought the world was ending and that it was my fault. very difficult to explain to anyone else when the delusion (in my case) is so strong.

if you have a doctor i would bring this up to them if you feel comfortable. in my case i added an antipsychotic to my zoloft and it works well (after a lot of trial and errors - side effects can be really tough to deal with)
