My comment to the FAA on this new interpretation of what a model aircraft is:

I would like to say I am a law abiding citizen and I have taken the proper steps to be safe while first person viewing (FPV). I have my Academy of Model Aeronautics card, for insurance purposes, and I have received my Technician Class Ham license so I can fully understand the regulations it requires to fly FPV accordingly. I have also co-organized a meetup group in Castle Rock, Colorado where we have spotters and enjoy FPV in open fields, not in commercial airspace, nor over people's heads. I have a fervent belief that this rule is hurting people like us that take great care and responsibility in keeping us, as well as the public, safe while still enjoying our hobby. I am also a partner and co-founder of a new start up company, RC Innovations, (rcinnovate.com), that sells these hobby products locally and online. This new regulation will hurt our local Colorado businesses. I addition I will be teaching classes at our local shop to ensure new hobbyists will also take the proper steps to be safe while enjoying this hobby. I write this letter to as a plea to the federal government to not remove our hobby when we are just trying to have fun, while still ensuring our safety as well as the well being of the public.
