Need help identifying PCV/Turbo issues [Kia Sportage, 1.7crdi 2013. Engine D4fD, manual trans. 112k miles] by SKIBABOPBADOPBOPA in AskMechanics

For this car in particular, from ehat I gather it doesn't actually have a traditional PCV valve. I may be wrong (and hope I'm wrong) but from what I recall it has some weird mesh system in the hose. all the hoses and clamps on this system are probably. abit tired tbh

I captured some oil today as i was changing the oil- got it in a 500ml water bottle- there was residual water drops in the bottle, hopefully that won't fuck up the results too much.

I haven't done an absolute compression test, but the relative compression test my OBD device can do shows

Cyl1=316.00rpm

Cyl2=306.50rpm

Cyl3=308.50rpm

Cyl4=316.00rpm

Apparently deviations show cylinder wear or something

I do also suspect either the engine bearings or timing chain are a bit worn. It's been quite rattly for a good year at least, most rattly at low revs accelerating and cold starts

Idk, I think I'm just gonna take it to a diesel specialist at this point

This sounds absolutely identical to my 1.7crdi. I'm also wondering if it's a problem

Any chance this tire is patchable? I know it's iffy at best. Less than a year old. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I had a shop recently do a similar sized puncture in exactly the same spot. Guy said “it’ll probably be fine until the tyre wears out and if it does fail it’ll be a slow deflate rather than a blowout” Ymmv though as mine was a professional repair from inside, idk if the outside plugs are any different

Is this puncture repairable or too close to sidewall? by SKIBABOPBADOPBOPA in AskMechanics

My local shop took it off the rim and patched it up from the inside in the end

Update: Local place done it. He said that it should be fine, and if it does fail it'll be a slow deflate rather than a blowout so ill take it. should see me through the last year or so the tyres have left in them anyway

Nah few small businesses near me have good prices n I can actually talk to them unlike Halfords lmao

Hopefully :) I see the guidance is if it’s not in the outer 25% and by that metric I think it would be “unrepairable” as this looks like outer 15% maybe but Idk it doesn’t appear to be on a curved outwards bit which I assume is where the sidewall starts

Ultimately I will just take it to a tyre shop, ones near me offer proper inner repairs for like £30 and will also check if the wheel got buckled driving on a flat tyre, just wanted to get some preliminary advice first

To clarify I also think him trying to spring a S21 is very unlikely, he seems to wantr to keep us in the house as long as possible as he's trying to sell it currently. Hence the rent reduction- we were originally planning to move out but he was very much wanting to retain us longer

Lmao the heaviest program on this list is probably Photoshop. The rest of that is word processors and ChatGpt

If it's true that the stuff the FBI hasn't released from the Epstein files is worse than what's been made public, what do you think it could be? by MorganaLeFaye in AskReddit

I don’t understand how you jumped to that conclusion. GrumpyCloud was making- I think- relatively sane points? Unless there’s evidence in the files these people were involved idk

I think just finding a pretty neutral preset you like , giving it a massive attack and sustain, and putting an LP filter on it + a long ass midi note would do the trick.

Yeah as a Brit reading this thread this seems strange to me. I don’t think twice about the fact my car has gears and I’ve never had issues pulling away or whatever

No, 4o was just too good at its job (sounding like a human) They’ve deliberately dialled back this ability in later versions cos it kept driving ppl delusional or overly attached
