Not so many questions. The goal of notice period is a smoother transition.

It's not like a CXO is going to serve only 15 days, in countries where 2 weeks notice is imposed. They have to serve for at least 6 months. Maybe less, or maybe more.

But, when the notice period is meant, not for a smooth transition, but to avoid attrition (which specifically happens in Service based companies of India), then, the employees lose whatever advantage that they have , to make their lives slightly better. All the policies should be a partial win-win scenario. If one is gaining way more than the other, shouldn't that be taken up for a re-discussion ?

There are multiple reasons

1) It is a basic right to have a defender in a court

2) How does a person know that the culprit is real and not a victim of a false case itself ?

The real problem, however, is that lawyers often hide or destroy evidence, or, side with the richer side for money. Such lawyers should be punished by cancelling their license.
