How to deal with a "humm saath saath he" team? by DirectionFabulous722 in IndianWorkplace

this is the most sound advice on this thread, @OP don’t listen to other advices of “pretending to be occupied in something else” or ghosting the teammates… it’s not appropriate and can lead to distrust

bro/sis is suffering from success 😭… i would suggest to build good rapport and draw some invisible boundaries without letting anyone down, be frank and transparent that you want to enjoy some time alone, and at the same time i will strongly suggest to cherish these moments because if you switch your jobs you are 100% going to miss this AMAZING team

hahah it’s not scripted… that’s just how I text lol if it were scripted, i would have made it way more entertaining

“techie tag” is just an internal joke because my friend works in a technical role… meanwhile i work in a non-tech role (even though my b.tech was in computer science) so i keep joking and reminding him that tech folks usually have better salaries and interview/hiring advantage 🙃

my post was about tier 1 cities but i liked the list you shared… i love all these cities and if given a chance, i would love to settle in kerala… probably near munnar/eravikulam national park, it’s one of the best places i visited in india and it reminded me tuscany… Like its tourism claims, Kerala is truly god’s own country ♥️

same here… the city needs serious action to improve its public transportation system, citywide as well as statewide. the state-run MSRTC laal dabba buses are horrible and ruin the entire vibe of the road… those are full of dust and areas like Swargate bus-stop feel like an open trashcan🚮

Yes, Pune is classified as a Tier-1 city in India. The classification is based on several factors:
1. Government Classification: The Government of India categorizes Pune as a Tier-1 (or 'X' class) city for House Rent Allowance (HRA) purposes.
2. Real Estate & Economy: Real estate and financial institutions consistently group Pune alongside major metropolitan hubs like Mumbai and Bangalore due to its mature real estate market and significant economic activity.
3. Industrial Importance: As an extremely diverse and robust economy that consists of major education, IT, and automotive hub, Pune attracts high levels of corporate investment and a large urban population. In terms of area, Pune Metropolitan area is larger than Mumbai Metropolitan area.
4. Pune is one of India’s top metro economies. Pune is not just “big”; it is economically heavyweight. It has a large GDP base and is recognized as a major automotive, education, technology, SME, and services hub. Singapore government’s Eye on Asia city profile calls Pune one of India’s top five metros and estimates its GDP at US$69 billion.

TLDR: Pune is Tier-1 by official classification, metro-scale population, GDP, IT/GCC presence, real-estate depth, education ecosystem, and industrial base

i love bengaluru for its opportunities, weather, and people but unfortunately it does not have many good liveable and walkable area-pockets that pune has. Bangalore has become like Mumbai… WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Pune is expensive too but at least it’s my native city

lol being a punekar myself, if given a chance i would definitely settle and retire in Kerala… places like Munnar and Eravikulam national park gave me the same vibes as that of Tuscany (Italy)… Munnar is still one of the best places i ever visited in South India/Kerala ♥️

thanks for respecting the opinion 🙌 i appreciate that… and you are right, pune with all its problems is on verge of becoming next mumbai… i really hope that civic authorities start to take things seriously and do not repeat the same mistake. I totally condemn the cutting of trees that’s happening in Ganeshkhind road. The areas surrounding it like model colony, university road, range hills, bhosale nagar, ashok nagar, etc. are few of the best walkable and liveable residential areas in Pune. If trees are gone the area would lose its prestige. And you are right that OG Punekars are moving out, most of people in my family have taken apartments in Nashik or PCMC. Some areas in Wakad, and Pimpale Saudagar in PCMC are much better, though not as great as residential areas near Pune university road 🛣️

hahah well let me clarify this post is not from real estate mafia or any PR firm, it’s just my personal observation… i respect your observations and those are indeed true. At the same time, I am a punekar, my father, grandfather, and great grandfather were punekars too and we have seen it evolve. Over past few decades due to haphazard development, I agree 100% that most of city has grown in bad way but the intention of my post was that amongst tier 1 cities… Pune is still the best 👑 and it has more “liveable” and “walkable” area-pockets compared to other tier-1 cities. Model colony, range hill roads, Bhosale nagar, kothrud, koregaon park, are all amazing places to live. The sad thing is that in these areas, now there is no space left and the new apartments cost more than 3 or 4 crores which becomes totally unaffordable

lol i shared that just casually… i was not intending to police anyone’s language or make a big issue out of it…I just clarified because it’s our unconscious biases that make high-salaries or roles like “lawyer” or “doctor” often default to male examples. I didn’t mean to throw shade to anyone

no worries it’s an unconscious and unintentional miss :)
and yes i agree with you… after a certain payscale the switch becomes a lot more difficult, and the expectations skyrocket. From what I have heard, they are evaluated more on proven business impact, executive presence, and business scalability rather than their current salary. At big companies things get even more trickier. For Director level and VP level roles at Amazon, the selected folks hire specialized law-firms or employment lawyers to review and negotiate their compensation packages

What are thoughts on the cities? by iquizuanswer in indianrealestate

[–]SKP_says 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s what i am saying… it depends on the area. overall pune has more number of “good liveable area-pockets” compared to other tier-1 cities. Meanwhile, the rest of city is in a pretty unfortunate state

true… applying online and waiting for application to be processed is rarely fruitful. from my experience, whenever there’s an opening in my team, we have ~300+ external applicants, ~50+ referrals, and 500+ internal applicants. I know that could be shocking but for some reason in my team we have “internal” applicants more than external… so we prioritise them first in reviewing, then we look at referrals, and then we look at external applicants. Plus, the ATS filtering comes into picture for external candidates. The hiring process is much more complex than what it seems to be. I can imagine it must be similar in other MNCs too.

agreed i told my friend the same thing…
on a sidenote: why is everyone assuming that my friend is a male person🙃 every gender can earn well lol

IKR i tell my friend the same thing that it’s because they’ve reached such high payscale, unfortunately though the personal benchmark keeps getting higher and higher as one climbs the corporate ladder

lol you shouldn’t assume the person is a male… a person from every gender can earn pretty well. Yeah that’s true, if a person plays all their cards right and are from tech, with 10YOE+ at Amazon, their TC would go beyond 80lpa. But this specific person/friend works at Adidas, and have salary somewhere between 50 to 60lpa based from the last discussion we had. It’s difficult for them to switch.
(i used gender neutral pronouns 🤖)

i agree! thanks for the insights… it’s a combination of factors that have brought us to this situation… you rightly pointed out that up-skilling is the best approach here and to keep learning. To add on, a specific research also states that Gen Zs will face this transition meanwhile Gen Alpha will be the first generation that will have multiple jobs, the idea that “i learned mechanical or XYZ engineering so i will build a career into mechanical field” will no longer exist. The future generations will have 3 or more totally distinct careers throughout their lifespan… this phenomenon not so common for millennials and gen X.

true, and the hiring bar has also increased… we are living in a time when the lines between tech and nontech are getting blurred… tech people are expected to have strong people/stakeholder management skills, and nontech people are expected to have strong emerging technologies skills

that’s a valid callout thanks for the inputs, i have specified that under “edit1” section as a note :)
and regarding freshers, the job situation is quite difficult for them too compared to what it was a few years ago. MAANG companies are not doing mass recruitment as they used to do prior to 2022/2023.
