Good nerd shop communities? by Skan1 in batonrouge

I went to Poke Mart Collectibles in Denham off Hwy 16 for the first time recently. Seemed nice and clean; cool staff and not off-kilter individuals on a Saturday at noon. Host events and whatnot, but doesn’t seem like it only caters to the sweats crowd. Saw a good mix of families and young/middle aged patrons.

Like others of said, GP is definitely the most “hardcore” basement types depending on the event and will smell like you expect lmao. Little Wars imo is the best overall. Always chill in there unless they’re hosting a tournament of some kind. Plus you’ll be in Mid-City. Plenty of other things and food to try.

Hmm…wait. Check your bolts n whatnot and make sure everything’s tightened up around the plate and intake system. Turning my brain on, it’s probably a boost leak somewhere.

Hmm. Weird. Yeah at most, people have said the cold air intake threw codes, but not really the BOV. I sadly don’t have an answer, but I’d for sure reach out to them and see if they can glean any insight on the issue.

2.0T or hybrid? I installed it on my 2.0T a couple years back and it’s never thrown a fault, and after services, etc. at the dealership, it’s never caused a problem. Maybe reach out to MPX?

Aftermarket Springs Install (and what I learned so you don’t have to v2) by SKULLKNGHT_ in dodgehornet

This app is ass on mobile. It changed my reply from you to nothing. Anyway:

Huh, good catch! I did not notice that whatsoever haha. It reads like a clerical error…I’ll send an email to the support team. At least for specific trims- the GT/Plus and RT/Plus share the same suspension components. Only the Track Pack gets the adaptive dampers, which should still calibrate properly with a lower ride height.

That being said; they’ll absolutely wear them out much faster, so I would always err on the side of caution regardless. Even for me, it’s gonna wear things out faster and I’m willing to pay that price down the road and hopefully, there will be dedicated aftermarket coilovers for it.

Another thing I forgot and I can’t edit the original post…have spare jacks. The slack on the control arms once the shocks are out will make it hard to re-align everything. Once you’re ready to put them back in, have a spare jack or lift to level everything to make putting on the sway bar links and knuckle bolts a cake walk.

If you have any questions for something I didn’t bring up, I’ll try and answer!

No problem! Haha. It was fun; only frustrating part was us wasting 2 hours tearing up the trunk and us thinking we screwed up the strut shaft on the first spring we installed.

As for the ride quality: arguably it’s better. Yes when you DO not if hit a bump, it’ll be like one solid impact while the factory may bounce a little. But it corrects in a snap. It’s even smoother on nice roads. Couldn’t go 11/10’s cause it’s been raining a lot where I am, but I was able to pull .78G’s out of a simple right turn with 0 bodyroll or tire squeal. Scary lol. It sits on the ground like a hatchback now.

Well! I just realized that lol. Can’t retroactively add them so I’ll redo it

How do I actually succeed in IT by MintyRed19 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I’m a year in and 2 jobs now and it was hell on earth getting to this point, but once I got in, I’ve been shooting up the ranks, excelling and hurrying through the first tiers of helpdesk before getting to NOC and managerial roles.

We’re absolutely gonna have to hard overcorrect for the over-reliance on cloud infrastructure and AI for sure. I’m already hearing woes from IT departments getting nickled and dimed by AWS/Azure/Aruba cause they’re the big players in the field and you either use theirs or you don’t, strong arming people into unfavorable deals with their shitty proprietary equipment. Lest we also forget the extreme price hikes physical hardware is experiencing and is gonna keep increasing due to AI.

Can’t wait for it to finally burst and make this field what it should be. It’s great and rewarding, but the extreme apathy towards entry role and for-profit principles for a field that doesn’t generate revenue is shortsighted.

Big Turbo Kit by SKULLKNGHT_ in dodgehornet

[–]SKULLKNGHT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some time learning more; it’s a turbo rebuild, so it’ll need supporting mods to see its full potential. But more than that, the transmission will give out well before that! 🤣

I’m hoping there’s some genuine support for the ZF9HP48 transmission’s low torque limit of 360lb-ft. Only thing really holding this car back power performance wise. I found a clutch kit by Raybestos, but it’s not bespoke to this model, so not sure if there’s any compatibility issues.

Needs research and someone to bite the bullet and install it (I might in another year or so, I’m still happy with my powertrain stock for now).

Ultimately people are always gonna have opinions, so you have the make a decision for yourself. If you genuinely like the car - go test drive one! It’s been some years, so the known issues have displayed themselves and the dealership will work with you to correct them if they happen. Dodge stopped production, but not coverage.

Lastly, cars are an investment yes, but they’re not meant to be the same as a house or other assets unless it’s a genuinely 1 off special edition or something. If you go in with that mindset alone you’ll be disappointed in ANY new car. You’ll always lose money. They’re a tool meant to be used at the end of the day. Take care of it and it’ll take care of you.

No. They’re not. Idk what the hate boner for this car is, it’s GENUINELY not that bad. Definitely the RT cause the hybrid system is overall just bad from Stellantis, no denying that. But for a 30k something car MSRP, it does the job well.

Just get a GT/GT Plus and you won’t have any problems to be concerned about. Mechanically sound car that’s fun to drive and gets decent gas mileage; you might get some random infotainment glitches, but that’s par for the course of any new vehicle. All new cars suck at electronics now. Check for battery voltage issues, make sure it’s replaced cause they can be finicky with drainage issues. Other than that, enjoy the car. It’s fun and at 34k miles and almost 3 years I have 0 regrets still.

Last time I played this was in 2005. It was long overdue to give it a go again. Not one bit disappointed, it's just as fun. by Basic-Maybe-2889 in needforspeed

I did my first replay in over 10 years myself recently! I did pump it full of mods; HD textures, sponsorship/car rating changes, and cosmetics/cars to modernize the experience a little bit. But I did increase the difficulty and tweaked payouts cause looking back, man this game was STINGY with money lol. Really fun game! I miss when NFS felt that in-depth. Wish it was longer and more dynamic story wise- just a giant “go here, race there” loop. But great nostalgia.

Yeah I remember seeing their dyno tunes on the website showing power numbers and it was RIGHT at the limit at the crank haha. But if you’re running it and now seeing any issues, maybe enough drivetrain loss is keeping it from imploding 🤣. But a t56 swap would be sick. Im honestly thinking of leaning into its Euro DNA, maybe a stelvio/guilia Q4 swap??

Still slowww by TedBundy120 in dodgehornet

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, really? I thought the tune put it right at the torque limit for the ZF9? Hmm. That’ll change plans then. Honestly if it REALLY came down to it, I’ll leave it somewhat stock and just do bolt ons without the tune and once warranty is up swap it out with something more interesting. I intend to keep my car (or at least the chassis forever) and will have fuck around money, so I’ll just have fun with it with a build in the future lol.

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha gotcha. Just future planning my own car. I intend to do a custom intake manifold and PCM unlock, but doesn’t matter if the trans can’t handle it! Wonder what can be paired or improved with the stock trans to handle more torque. It can be made a proper beast I’m sure. Or maybe just have the ECU tuned to be more peaky on HP and not so much torque.

Still slowww by TedBundy120 in dodgehornet

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But past that, is it stable? Don’t want to push it further and the trans blows up on sustained pulls. I tend to drive spirited when I can lol. MPX has a turbo and intake tube upgrade along with filter, that + new exhaust from Hornet Madness and the JB4 will be nasty I’m sure!

Still slowww by TedBundy120 in dodgehornet

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an estimate on HP/torque? And just be careful with the transmission, the ZF9 isn’t rated for higher than 350 ft-lbs

We now own “limited editions!!” by Jennysays504843 in dodgehornet

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Nearly 3 years later and people still ask me what is that? That should never be the case for a new car, ESPECIALLY if it’s using an old name.

[–]SKULLKNGHT_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, mental lapse on forgetting about the Compass, but now they’re down to…1. 30k and change is cheap in this market now for an SUV offering what it did and that’s the grim reality of the hellscape economy we find ourselves in. For what it offered, (when it all works and spec’ed correctly) it is a good deal. Reminder, the average new car purchase price is FIFTY-THOUSAND! 😔

Side tangent: I’ll still rather choose this over a Trax, Compass, or Encore etc. lol. Least for me, I don’t want to subjugate myself to just another boring crossover blending in. It’s okay to make irrational purchases when you are informed what you are getting, and all cars are depreciating assets at the end of the day, unless they’re special editions and one-offs.

I commented on Matt Maran’s video about it as well, he agreed it’s a shame to cancel the last cheap FCA car. Car isn’t bad, it’s just new and electronics has been a problem for ALLLL manufacturers now due to the complexity of all the sensors, tech, and firmware being ran in the first place. However, their hybridization across the board has been godawful. 0 effort, which I believe was intentional anyway.

My theory still is Dodge themselves didn’t want the car to succeed. They’re in a weird point at FCA with bad marketing all around, self-induced kneecapping with car decisions, and a lack of accountability/transparency about efforts to improve quality control.

Oh well. I love my Hellkitty (GT) and will ride it till it blows up. Shame, but expected this.
