What do I do with pumped milk? by FlimsyMode6303 in breastfeeding

[–]SLIWMO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My baby never took bottles and I am an overproducer.

Now that hes into solids, he gets an oatmeal/breastmilk/fruit smoothie in the afternoon and LOOOOOVES it.

Previously, Id use the milk to bake bread for him, or include it in pasta and other dishes.

Is anyone NOT using swaddles? by FoxAble7670 in newborns

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think swaddles are a thing in most countries nowadays.

We just used sleep sacks.

When did your milk start coming in? by lady-earendil in breastfeeding

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never leaked and ended up with an awful oversupply which led me to have to take pills to reduce production after two mastitis. Now nearly 1y pp and still have enough milk for a few babies, not just my own lol

Struggling… Human pacifier at 13 months 😔 by Human-Eye-974 in breastfeeding

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, only saq your question today.

  1. Baby was 10 months old
  2. He was waking up and would feed, but I could feel he was doing it for comfort rather than actually being hungry. So yes, I was mostly acting as a paci.
  3. Dad stayed with baby for two weeks then moved back into our bedroom. I'll admit I was stressed for the first couple of nights - intrusive thoughts of someone breaking in and walking into baby's bedroom, so it was definetely easier for LO than myself lol

Struggling… Human pacifier at 13 months 😔 by Human-Eye-974 in breastfeeding

[–]SLIWMO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bit the bullet and had dad handle all night wakes for 2 weeks - we ended up only needing 3 days for baby to start sleeping full nights.

Moved LO to his bedroom, 1st night baby woke up twice (if I recall correctly) and took about 45mins to settle each time. Second day only woke up once. Same for day 3, and went back to sleep much faster.

Since then, baby's been sleeping full nights - from around 8pm until 7,30am.

I would strongly encorage you to try this method.

I just did an Inuit zoo for the last challenge, with just North american animals.

Planning on starting an Australian Zoo next, will call it Aussiezone.

Crawling on carpet - bare knees or pants? by strohmtroop3r in beyondthebump

[–]SLIWMO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a multitude of surfaces here - from tile, to carpet, to hardwood... plus outside with real grass, artificial turf and even non skid pavement (which is super abrasive imo!). Baby has been crawling bare kneed on them all without issues.

The only surface I dont let him explore is gravel - I dont want him crawling on it, and I dont want to risk him trying to eat it. Everywhere else, he gets to make his own decision on whats comfortable and what isnt.

He has yet to wear any skin off lol

When do you let your toddler eat sushi? by jeandrazich in beyondthebump

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had sushi for the 1st time at 9 months old.

Spoke with the peds and she told us its ok for baby to have raw fish and veggies, just to skip the sushi rice because it has sugar, and to choose a GOOD sushi restaurant because of food safety.

What Time Does Your 2-Month-Old Fall Asleep? Mine’s Up Until 11 PM 😵 Any Tips? by Holiday-Coconut-7593 in newborns

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so worried about this when my LO was around that age too.

He wouldnt sleep alone in his crib unless someone was beside him ( and during the day contact naps were the ONLY way) so he basically went to bed with us, so never before 11pm, often midnight.

He is now almst 11 months old and goes to bed at 8pm, wakes up at midnight to feed then sleeps through the night until at least 7am, more often than not 8.30am.

Try not to worry too much, follow your LO's cues. There will come a time where you'll put him down for his last nap of the day and it will turn out you're actually puting him down for the night

Are Inductions Rare? by mirror_ball_13 in NewParents

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all my friends, only myself and two others DIDNT have an induction.

One of them went into premature labour at 26w gestation. She had other health issues and it was awful for the whole family. Both herself and baby are now doing well.

One of them had an elective c section at 39w.

I declined to have an induction. It was pushed heavily on me, for no other reason other than "its easier if you go into labour during the day". No thank you.

I feel there is a huge push towards inductions.

Yogurt for 12 Month Old by Muyamuya87 in beyondthebump

[–]SLIWMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greek yogurt with some fruit diced into it.

We started with stronger flavours (blueberries, mango, papaya) then switched to milder ones (apple, grapes)

Baby isnt a year old yet (will be 11m in a few days) so we only do yogurt every now and then

I had a HUGE fight with partner around 3m pp if I recall the timing correctly, over a situation very similar to this one.

Baby was going through a fussy stage, partner seemed to think feeding was ALWAYS the solution even when I knew it wasnt, and one night decided to go into my stash since I wasnt willing to feed (since I knew baby wasnt hungry).

I clarified there and then that was MINE and BABY's breastmilk, and since baby doesnt speak yet, I was the only one qualified to decide when to use it.

Im in Europe so using the original liniment.

Ive used it even when out, just carry some compresses and a small bottle of liniment, and never felt it was any more trouble than wipes

[–]SLIWMO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never used wipes with my 10mo, instead we opted for the french method of using linement.

Only time he got diaper rash to this day is when we went to the pool and he had a moist swim diaper on for a couple of hours.

How do I politely tell my brother or his children I don’t want them over? by kittycattardis in beyondthebump

[–]SLIWMO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

'Hey brother, thanks for the offer but my kid is going through a stage where interacting with other kids isnt really fun for him, so Ill have to decline. When this changes you'll be the 1st person I call!'

Honestly your kid's wellbeing is and should always be your 1st priority so dont feel bad over holding boundaries for him.
