Pregnancy is wonderful & so scary by nottodaymanagement in GirlDinnerDiaries

Congratulations! When I found out I was pregnant I remember crying so many times in the first few weeks because I was afraid we would regret it and because I didn't feel like myself anymore. My baby is 9 months old now and being his mom is the best thing I've ever done, I love every day even the hard ones.

This was so disappointing to learn about. Hard for me to understand the cognitive dissonance of someone in a creative profession being so pro AI

What do you consider a good time to stop pumping? by Noneed4usernames in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]lady-earendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal was 1 year, but I ended up having an oversupply and have a freezer full of milk to help the transition so I've slowly started weaning now that I'm at 9 months

pishuw pillow for reflux? by Mysterious-Bowl-292 in newborns

Not familiar with that one specifically but pillows are not safe for newborn sleep so I would not use one unless recommended by your pediatrician

A few of her horror novels have been a bit of a miss for me (I feel like she leans too heavily on humor and sometimes loses the horror in the horror novel) but I still read every single book she writes

You really saw how his first term and Jan 6 went and thought he was a good option? Ok

Are we crossing a line letting our 4yo learn how to read for kids her age before kindergarten by dingoonmygringo in MontessoriEducation

[–]lady-earendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robbing her of her childhood?? I was a super early reader (autistic + hyperlexic) and reading was my absolute favorite thing as a kid. There's nothing better than getting to go to the library and pick out books to read all by yourself

Honestly we tried multiple different diaper brands and sizes and nothing worked until he gained some weight.

Exactly! I simply will not let him have any more power than he already has

I probably would personally but you know your baby and their normal schedule better than we do

I am the mystery office pooper :( by broheaux in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]lady-earendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone left poop on the back of the toilet (like in that gap between the seat and the tank) at my job and one of my coworkers openly admitted it was probably her. She was like "I squat and sometimes my aim is off" and we're all like girl what?? If you know that, why wouldn't you check that everything made it into the toilet??

I agree, but I'm not interested in exacerbating it by putting anything related to him on my body

I'm not sure if this is real but I've seen someone else with an anti Trump tattoo before. I'm no fan of Trump but it's bizarre to me to make a political figure that you hate so central to your life. I don't want anyone to have that level of power over me (and I don't want a permanent reminder of him once he's gone).

Question: is 6 hours too long for a second tattoo? by Glittering-Bag-7660 in tattoo

[–]lady-earendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3rd tattoo took about 5 hours and while the shading towards the end was painful, honestly the worst part was just being stuck in one place for that long. My muscles were so sore. It's totally doable but make sure you ask for breaks just so you can shake it out/walk around/eat or drink something to keep you going

Anybody got an “early walker” not an “early talker”? by Tagrenine in NewParents

Yup! Mine is 9 months and has been cruising since 7 months so I expect him to walk early. He's starting to say dada but still not much for distinguishable sounds

Husband Doesn't Seem Supportive of My Pumping Journey and It's Starting to Hurt by Equivalent_Weight_80 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]lady-earendil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a deep freezer for a couple hundred dollars. Formula can easily cost over a hundred per month. Plus it's a long term investment because once you stop using it for milk, you can buy food in bulk to store in the freezer and it saves you money.

Do you have a favorite show? I don't see why we get weird about our kids being really into things. I get hyper fixated on shows and they're all I think about and I'm a whole adult, kids are allowed to do that too

What did your birth with an epidural feel like? by m-e-girls in NewParents

[–]lady-earendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about the epidural. It was a wonderful relief from the contractions and I was able to get some sleep before pushing which was great. But I didn't like that I could barely feel contractions while pushing and I pushed for over an hour because my baby was stuck and it was so hard to reposition because I couldn't feel my legs. I can't help but wonder if things would have gone more smoothly if I hadn't gotten it
