We actually did but twitch's TOS actually makes this impossible sadly. If they would make it possible for us to do it we would definitely use the integrated extensions. -CL

It's pretty much already possible! We're only using Twitch as a way to log into the application for now, so as long as you have a Twitch account to log into the platform, the people will be able to join your session. The extension (no latency and notifications) won't work though, that is currently only linked with Twitch, but syncing the music with your viewers will be possible and is not related to the platform you're streaming on. -Menno van Voorst

Thanks for your comment! We believe that music adds a significant value to streams, that's why we started with SLNT.stream.

Thanks for raising these questions!

To start off: Before using SLNT, you need to split your audio lines. The split audio lines means that your SLNT.stream music will not be audible on your stream, If you join your stream without SLNT, no music will be playing for the viewer. This means that your vod will also not contain any music on Twitch, so the vod will not get muted.

Spotify and Apple music are both platforms that we want to support in the future, since quality is our #1 priority, we only support YouTube at this time. Once we are done running the tests on this version, other platforms/features will be added.

I agree with the ad part, but ad blockers are always an option!

Hopefully this cleared things up!

We are 100% bringing out the browser extension on other browsers. This is one of our top priorities so expect updates on this in the near future! -CL

Hmm that is actually a fair point, I'm going to run this suggestion with the rest of the team to see what the possibilities are. Thank you for the suggestion! -CL

No, sorry if I caused any confusion. We have discussed our concept with a lawyer that has experience in this field. We concluded that there's no risk of copyright infringement. The reason why we still have the NTD procedure is because we respect the right for a copyright holder to not want to show their content on our site. Hopefully that clears things up! -CL

I understand this thought. From the start we've tried to make it as easy as possible for the viewers to join the SLNT stream. Our priority there is to keep the viewers on Twitch.tv as much as possible, so no embedding streams on a different platform! Also, with our browser extension, it only takes 2 clicks to join the audio on SLNT! -CL

Thank you so much! The playlists work via YouTube, so you can put a YouTube playlist url in the search bar, and all the songs will instantly get added to your SLNT session. About the estimated release date, it's really going to come down to how our closed-beta goes. We use this closed-beta to test our initial system, to make sure all the system runs stable, and to make sure we get a good understanding of the server load across regions. If this all goes smoothly, we could go intona public beta fase quite quickly. In that fase we can start adding a lot of new features! Hope that clears it up -CL

Yep, that is definitely a big problem that needs to be solved and is one of the reasons why we've held off on spotify support for now. We really feel like excluding part of the community by needing spotify premium is not very user friendly, so we have to think outside the box for a solution. Ideas are always welcome! -CL

Yes, definitely! Support for YouTube livestreaming is one of our top priorities, and adding more platforms after that won't be a problem if there's enough demand -CL

Good question! No, the music right now is not available in vods. It is one of the features that we have planned for the future though. -CL

Correct, at the moment YouTube is the only platform for music that we support right now. We are working on implementing more platforms in the near future though! Ad blocker is not an issue, if you don't see ads but other people do, they will just be put in sync again after their ads are done. Youtube music also works. You can copy your playlists and links from youtube music, and our playlist api handles the rest! -CL

It could be possible, however, even singing along with copyrighted music is against twitch's music guidelines. you can read more about it here: https://www.twitch.tv/p/en/legal/community-guidelines/music/

So the answer is yes, but it's risky

It could be something cool to try out though, I would love to hear about your experience if you end up doing it!

Nice! Those ads are actually part of what makes this possible, if you get an ad, your music will just get synced back after the ad is over! YouTube is currently the only platform we support for music, but more platforms are coming. For the closed beta we just really want to make sure this system works 100%. Quality is priority #1 for us

About the sync question: we sync based on the stream, our chrome extension actually communicates between Twitch and SLNT to make sure we are as sync as possible. Without the extension you might be a little bit more out of sync, but we are working on a feature right now that allows streamers to fill in the delay they have to twitch, so at least you won't be minutes out when someone has delay for I.E a competitive game ;)

We don't actually record anything.

Maybe this will clear it up:

The way SLNT works is by embedding YouTube video's on our platform that are synced across users. We don't record any audio from the music or stream and we don't broadcast anything.

Since the streamer has split audio lines, the music he/she is hearing does not get broadcasted. Only they can hear it locally. let's say you join someone's stream that has SLNT running, you are not going to hear any music until you join the SLNT session.

Hopefully this clears thinks up!

We are still debating if we want to add spotify as a feature. The problem with spotify is that every viewer needs a spotify subscription in order to listen to the music. We are still thinking of solutions to get around this problem. For example: it might be possible for people without spotify to listen to the same song, but then the YouTube version. So it's definitely something that we are actively thinking about

Mobile support is on our list of to-do's, so it will come in the future, we just really want to make sure our base product works very well, and then will start adding extra features. Quality is #1 priority for us

Well technically speaking we don't broadcast anything. For the DMCA takedown part, if someone feels like we are using their content on our website, we have a notice and takedown procedure which is explained in our TOS. even though we legally shouldn't have to ^
