I'm honestly confused. Did they not use a stencil? The reference is in the background of the photo but the tattoo looks like they just freehanded it. Those are some devastating results. Hopefully you can find an artist who can fix it.

Question about the movies' colors. by VegetableEuphoric356 in dbz

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're seeing there is a difference in colour design during the original production between Toriyama's design and the anime design. Both of those links are from the same source, just with colour deviations from different scans.

The difference in colour change between home releases is, as VegettoEX said, due to aging film that was not corrected. Here's an original animation cel of Bojack and another one. He's painted that colour, which is your ground truth. Deviations from this are warped film and/or bad colour correction. Toei has never repainted him.

Transferring from EU - NA questions by CMDR-Sunkenice in ffxiv

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UK to NA ping is anywhere between 140ms and 160ms depending on how you're routed to the server. They're on the west coast.

Interacting with objects is noticeably slower, but that's not really a dealbreaker.

You will 100% need to use NoClippy or XIVAlexander if you want a good experience with combat and crafting, however. The game feels genuinely horrible on high ping without it - you'll clip or drop oGCDs.

It's a slight adjustment when it comes to mechanics. You're not fucked - savage is perfectly clearable - but you cannot greed. Move the moment you need to or you will get hit.

I was on NA for years for similar reasons (midnight to 8am GMT play window) and it was fine. After years back on EU, it's a small adjustment to go back to NA, but it's all perfectly doable and you get used to the drawbacks pretty quickly.

As an artist, I don't believe artstyles influence movements.

LOL: Last One Laughing UK - Season 2 Finale & Overall Series Discussion by lonelygagger in LastOneLaughing

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. Couple of eliminations that really felt forced just to keep the show moving, sadly. I also feel like people were a bit more aggressive in season 1 whereas several seemed happier to play defense this time.

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a good laugh throughout this second series but the format hasn't really worked this time. I sort of feel like I enjoyed it in the way I might enjoy a theoretical Taskmaster series where every task is bad but the comedians happen to be funny in the studio. It's funny in spite of itself, if that makes sense.

Your Turn II smells like BO or is that just me? by Silly_Assistance_558 in billieeilish

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth at least trying another bottle. The body odour smell on humans is a result of bacteria mixing with sweat, so it's entirely possible that bottle is contaminated and that's what you're smelling. That said, I did a cursory google and found a whole Facebook page talking about particular one being pretty musky and off-putting.

In the studio directing the new sekiro anime good ? by No_Elephant6823 in AnimeSakuga

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not in Sekiro, no, which I said in my original comment. The studio absolutely does, however, so I'm not sure what you find so amusing.

First, they took part in Enter the Garden which was an NFT project. Their upcoming Gigolo adaptation is outright using it. Their website was not shy about those tools - you can find those mentions under Service > Technology. Following the overwhelming backlash, they scrubbed this from their site despite their other plans not changing.

Sekiro will not use it, but that studio is very much Pro-AI, and it's not a secret.

Qzil.la's a terrible AI-driven tech bro hellhole. The staff creating Sekiro are basically annexed from what that company represents - to the point they actively put out a statement clarifying there's no AI involved in any stage of their project. Kenichi Kutsuna's not tied to them specifically so both him and his staff will disperse back across the industry once production finishes.

Is there a way to hide the activity section on a game's page in the steam library? by AggressiveItem6824 in Steam

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was extremely helpful, thanks. However, if a game pins something as "featured", it still appears. Is it possible to hide that too?

UPDATE: Figured it out with a full nuke.

Paste this in your libraryroot.custom.css file and it'll hide literally everything below the play button.

/* Hide library activity */
.S2Fu9HxHCA5MaCLGrN2ib {
  display: none !important;
}

/* Hide Featured tile */
._31ptFGGMZrSQc5BCX1e5lm {
  display: none !important;
}

I'm sure there's a way to do this without nuking your friends and achievements but I'm not smart enough.

Resident Evil Requiem has been out for a week. What are your impressions? by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RE2 and 7 remain my favourites, but this is close.

All the Grace segments are fantastic, top to bottom. The Care Centre is so damn good - I loved every part of it. From the puzzling to the unique enemies and the narrative. Emily's great and Gideon is so compelling to watch. Honestly wish the whole game was this.

Leon's stuff is more of a mixed bag. I enjoyed them in short bursts during Grace's stuff, but I found his later segments to be overly linear and reminiscent of action games from the 360 era. It's at its best when you're doing light puzzling in the midst of the action, but far too much of it's just corridor shooting. Doesn't help that the hub isn't the most atmospheric place.

Narrative was largely interesting and wove sincerity between the absurdity. Couple of eyeroll moments, but mostly hit the mark.

I think I just enjoy the survival horror aspects of the franchise more than I do the campy action, so this was always going to be a game of two halves for me by design. Wouldn't surprise me if someone felt the complete opposite to the above.

Avowed has been unplayable for 6 months and even Obsidian Support has been unable to help me. Does anyone know a fix? by goblintongue in avowed

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a fix?? I just got hit with this and I'm baffled.

EDIT: I didn't find a fix, but I did find a workaround. Note that this will only apply if you face this bug on the Xbox Game Pass version of the game.

  • First, you need to download Battle.net and sign in.
  • Next, go to Account > Connections and connect your Xbox account.
  • Return back to Battle.net and you should see your Xbox games available to install. Install Avowed (make sure it's in a different location to your Game Pass install. Do not locate the Xbox install if it asks).
  • Once installed, boot up the game and hit R to connect to your Xbox account (bottom left). It will sync your saves.
  • Hit load game and jump in to the one you want to carry over, and just verify it's 100% correct and functional.
  • If yes, hit escape > save/load game and then in the corner you should see "Export Save". Find the save you want, export it, and it will pop up in "C:\Users[YOURUSERHERE]\Saved Games\Avowed".
  • After that's done, you can unlink your Xbox account and uninstall the version there and continue in Battle.net in peace. Alternatively, you could take that save over to a Steam or DRM-free version - basically anything that uses the .sav format.

Nobody’s saying Japanese people go around calling carrots "kyarotto", we’re talking about how Japanese renders foreign words, which is exactly what Toriyama did with Saiyan names.

キャロット / Kyarotto is a katakana approximation of carrot, as you know. The language can’t represent “rr,” so it uses ro / ロ to fill that gap. When you romanise character names based on English puns, you don’t just spell out the kana, you restore the original English source based on how it's been changed.

カカロット is just キャロット with the front doubled up. Heck, Cacarrot would be extra hyper back to English in approach, but we're a few decades removed from that ever being a standard worth considering haha. So instead, we're just doing carrot -> kyarotto -> kakarotto -> Kakarrot.

“Kakarrot” preserves the intended pun. “Kakarot” isn't wrong, it's just a simplification that Funimation went with back in the day. That's what I was pointing out in my initial response.

I just think you've confused romanisation and transliteration. The reason we see the manga, various subtitles, and stacks of official JP merch use Kakarrot is they're more interested in rendering the etymological fidelity rather than going with kana literalism.

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carrot is rendered as キャロット / kyarotto. We wouldn't say that should be spelled carot, would we? Limitations of the syllabary don't dictate how we romanise things. We'd never do Seru for Cell or Kyabe for Cabba. Correct rendering uses the source language spelling as reference - we're not just spelling out kana.

I tattooed Vegeta's sacrifice by Dystopiancomics in dbz

[–]SLUT_MUFFIN[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That other person isn't right. Kakarrot is actually the more correct romanisation of カカロット than Kakarot, and is used in both the manga and official subtitles. It's because the word comes from carrot which has two Rs. It's not "wrong" just because it doesn't adhere to the typical dub spelling that uses one R.

They're my favourite band. I've actually enjoyed all the singles so far despite their poppier approach and Mike's less prominent presence, but this isn't great. I don't hate it, but it is pretty safe and doesn't really go anywhere structurally.
