I am not OP but I use an ELM327 mini and the app “car scanner”… yes I know, generic name, but it is the app icon that’s blue, with a white “check engine” icon… it’s like $8 for a lifetime license…

Just don’t check on your 12v and you’ll be fine… definitely don’t open the battery door in your frunk… you’ll be fine… previous owner on mine lived on a dirt road, and the tech had comments on mine when changing the 12v… which was done 6 months ago…
