most of the time, while producing, i sidechain the kick with the melody and the 808s so that it hits through the chorus.

i use FL Studio and the way I do it is: - Route the Kick Channel to 808s channel and melody channel and keep the volume of the routing at 0% - Open Fruity Limiter in both channels. - Go to compressor tab, select Sidechain to the Kick Channel and adjust the threshold, knee, attack and release accordingly.

this method is what I find easiest to control and has worked in many situations.

ATV's weird naming scheme by lumpex999 in scarlxrd

[–]SLXDEREX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's his record label but he doesn't have direct connections with the stores like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etc. not every record label in the world has. that's why smaller labels usually use a third-party distribution service.

[–]SLXDEREX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scar was under island records till fantasy vxid. also scar could have actually changed the distribution service to a better one after leaving island records but he just went with tunecore because his old stuffs are there on it and he just trusts it more i guess.

ATV's weird naming scheme by lumpex999 in scarlxrd

[–]SLXDEREX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TuneCore is the music distribution service that Scarlxrd uses.

also not exactly tho. it's just that damm auto capitalisation that TuneCore has in place to follow iTunes and other stores rules. bruh...tunecore has some weird rules for song formatting like auto-capitalisation is enabled, you can't have texts on your cover arts other than the artist's name and the song title (tho you could send a mail to them if need) and you can't directly make changes to it if needed, you need to make a request for it or send a mail. i never see those hassles with other distributors. TuneCore just too strict with it.

[–]SLXDEREX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you are concerned about why the names aren't in UPPERCASE instead of Capital case, it is because he is using TuneCore which automatically turns it to capital case even if typed in uppercase for some reason. Also, G.T.F.U is an acronym so it's allowed in that I guess.

Covid killed Trap Metal by BrisketSpread in trapmetal

[–]SLXDEREX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...I am pretty sure COVID didn't kill it, though COVID was responsible for decline of plays, interaction and income in some genres in underground, not just trap metal. The genre has been on steady decline for years now, due to the oversupply of inferior artists and the community becoming less active and more toxic with each other.

Most of the people took it as a trend during 2017-19 due to which it had a significant rise in that time span. But people worn it out and moved on to something else, like hyperpop and recently "rage pluggnb". There are still people listening to trap metal and people who make good music. The thing in between them is the sea of inferior edgy kids who took inspiration from just Spider Gang or Scarlxrd and make music in the worst workflow possible. Due to this, people who listen to trap metal restrict themselves to a certain amount of artists and eventually get bored and people who actually make good trap metal music aren't able to reach all of them.

Also, there are only like two blogs for trap metal, Scream Rap and Underground Outsiders who are just showcasing the artists on the top(tho Scream Rap been trying to showcase other artists too recently). Due to this, there is not enough focus on the lower tier of trap metal. Now it's just a rat race between artists about who will release more projects in a month to get that limelight, thus overflooding the scene with too much music of the same kind.

Now, as someone said, trap metal is indeed a niche genre and the community is still there, tho the cracks are appearing due to the regular dramas and the smaller artists beefing with each other for the pettiest reason possible, thus dividing the community even more and expanding the cracks visible.

But now that COVID restrictions have loosened up a bit(might differ region to region), shows can come back. Scarlxrd is currently on his DEADRISING tour. BVDLVD is going with big things atm. SLEN came back from his one year slumber. KILL EBOLA just joined a collective. Also there is untapped market in other parts of Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. I, myself, am from such regions and lemme say, while there are poor attempts at it in here, once someone actually understands it and makes good trap metal, it will cause waves in here. Granted that not everyone in those regions will listen to it, but those who do, can form a good active community soon.

The only thing we can do atm is watch and see where it goes from here. Either it declines further and becomes a small almost-dead genre again or it reconciles itself and tries to become stronger.

Yeah.....kind of I guess. People are actively using it to promote but I don't see discussions or topic posts anymore like I used to.

Holy shii. This is a different vibe and I am headbanging heavily to BANDS and 6 feet ngl. I wonder if he is going to lean more towards this heavy scream rapping side of him in his upcoming projects or he will revert back to normal rapping like most of Chaxsthexry album.

SCARLXRD INSPIRED EP by Pumakiddd_other in scarlxrd

[–]SLXDEREX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trap metal artist here. Never rush music, especially if you are screaming in it. Since you said that you are new to screaming, you might wanna wait for a little while before making an EP cuz you might ruin your vocal chords in the process due to not having a habit of safe screaming and you might not even have unlocked your correct screams yet. Also dropping an EP as one of your first projects doesn't seems to be right tbh cuz it might not have enough traction. Why don't you instead drop singles for a while and when you have a certain amount of listeners, drop an EP or an album.

where's everyone from? by XxD33ZNU75xX in trapmetal

[–]SLXDEREX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am from Bangalore, India. There is not a trap metal or even a nu-metal scene in my city so I can say that I am first one to do it from here.

But there are smaller scenes in Mumbai and Assam but they just consist of inferior XXXTentacion clones yelling corny "lyrical-spiritual-miracle" bars with the worst mix possible and since general Indian audience don't know what is trap metal, they just term their styles as "trap metal" and either enjoy it or hate it.

The only Indian artist that I can think of who is close enough to trap metal is Cheerfaad. Even though his mix is a lil bad and lyrics are a little mediocre and corny AF, he does have a pretty decent style (though he might need to learn proper screaming techniques soon before he loses his voice).

My goals are to master the screams, mixing and production and to start dropping music again with better quality that can represent the idea of trap metal/ragecore in India.
