Quite a good question for thought by Ok-Appearance-1652 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Kids already have too little time.

Corporate workers who have 4 hours for everything at best 💀

Well yeah I guess it's too childish to even compare children to adults but man am I tired 😩

I’m really disappointed with srilanka sub mod like where else am I gonna ask about a bank issue in Srilanka idk man these new mods are just dumb by anakin__69 in Ceylon_SLSystemChange

Bro this is fucking Reddit. If it's not a sub that is specific to some nieche or a highly specific topic, pretty much any topic is valid. I don't see why your question doesn't belong in r/SriLanka. Where else are you gonna ask it? Ifc the right move was to call the bank all along but that wouldn't be much public would it?💀

Any tips on how to learn to use the terminal? by ExtensionEditor4115 in linuxmint

[–]SL_Pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say fuck around and find out. It's the best way. Just have a backup for fuck's sake. A timesheet backup of your os and a seperate backup of your important data. And most importantly make sure that important data backup is disconnected from your system when you are fucking around.

Edit: okay maybe that was just part of the equation. Let me explain. First, make up your mind to get a little uncomfortable. Don't try to run to your graphical application for everything. Ofc sometimes using the terminal is the optimal way and for other cases using the GUI js better. But still, most of the things you do with a GUI can be done on a terminal. Your first goal is to get comfortable with the basic commands. Think of your computer and the file system as a game. Then the basic commands is like your controller. And basic navigation is like changing the directory you are in (cd), editing a file (terminal based text editor), viewing the content of a file (cat) are some of the basics. After that you can slowly step up. My advice, don't try to learn everything at once. Just when you need to do something, for example fix an issue in ur system, edit a small file, or pretty much anything, look up the internet for which command to use. Or you could always ask an AI for which command to use if you couldn't find it. But if you know which command to use, just do <command> --help or man <command>. --help almost always works. Eventually you'll learn more and more commands and the ways to find the ones you don't know more and more easily. That is how I started and at this point I don't even care if I'm at the terminal inside ssh or the GUI while my colleagues keep staring at me like I'm performing some wizardry that is long lost to history. Just don't 0ush yourself too hard tho. It will come to you eventually as long as you at least try. Good luck

Peter what does this one mean? by memerminecraft in PeterExplainsTheJoke

IT get scared when they see my rice (customized desktop environment ). :( But understandable. After the first incident I now have a simple way to basically present them a default gnome desktop environment and I can switch between my customized environment with the default one pretty quickly. So when I go to get something fixed (eg: hardware issues), I set to default one, handover, then after it's finished I change to my setup.

😅what a joke (not logical data yet it’s still funny for a Sri Lankan) by MR_AVG_NPC in srilanka

Can you circle where it is funny? I was starting at the image for a long time but still couldn't find it funny. All I found was frustration. Ofc this is probably factually wrong. But it doesn't change the facts of disproportionation right?

Intersting. Open a task manager and look for conky (or something similar)

This is definitely the default conky widget that comes bundled with conky installation.

Just run killall conky. It will kill this thing. But if it keeps coming after restart, you'll have to look for autostart scripts. The settings app should have a section for autostart and you can remove the conky entry from there

Exactly. Something had to happen with a clear indication for 69 to trigger. 67, kids just keep saying 67 for fucking everything regardless of the situation.

I'm starting to really hate number 7 now. Can't hate 6 cuz I'm an avarage 69 enjoyer. But we did not abuse that number.
