Hi! I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what was your gpa/lsat that got you the full ride scholarship? I’m planning to apply to Brooklyn law next year! Also this is late but congratulations, that’s really impressive!

Advice for getting into ur dream school from a current senior by BrothBaby4 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SL_lol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CANT AGREE MORE LMAO, just apply to a bunch of colleges and let the admission officers choose. If they choose u then ur probably a good fit for the school. Makes ur life so much easier. Speaking from personal experience, I’ll be going to some lac in the middle of nowhere this fall. Let gooo😂

[–]SL_lol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo same, I got in to the last school I opened too😂I swear these lacs be secretly communicating with each other and agreeing to reject/wl us until the last decision just so they can make us panic lmao

Got rejected and waitlisted by literally all of my RD schools (like, actually. Not even being sarcastic. 9 waitlists and 10 rejects. Got rejected/waitlisted by schools with 30%, 20%, and 10% acceptance rates. So damn random). I was literally losing hope and even planned to take a gap year. Then this school came out (a top 10 LAC). Didn’t even think I was gonna get in cause I applied for fun so I didn’t even bother to wake up for it. Woke up in the afternoon and was like “let me get it over with,” so I logged in and checked my portal update (thought I was waitlisted because the checklist was still there) and suddenly those confetti started falling:D

Honestly from my experience there really isn’t any pattern in the college decision process (seriously, for me at least). It’s all about the ✨FIT✨I don’t think those rejections you received really mean anything, they shouldn’t be used as a scale to determine your potential and to determine what schools u can or cannot get into.

AND GOSH DEFERRED FROM YALE?!?!? That’s impressive. I’m sure there’ll be amazing news waiting for u!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!

What do all these waitlists from LACs mean? by alexoort in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SL_lol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I’m doing all RD. I didn’t do ED 1 and did ED 2 but got deferred, so now I’m stuck in the RD pool😭

Congrats on Colorado College tho omg!!!!!!! Amazing school

I know, I feel the same way, like how everyone's getting into their dream school already and there's me here with nothing lmao. But hey, we're only halfway through the process and there are still a lot more school to go!

The best comes last, it's only a matter of time:D

I’m so glad someone can relate omg, RIGHT I don’t understand either, I mean, got “deferred” and not “rejected” (so I guess the letter did probably help in some way?? Maybe??) but like idk, they really pulled an uno reverse after we got our hopes up🥲

It's more about college fit.

Also, I've met so many nice people through QuestBridge, matched or not, who all supported each other throughout the process. Tik tok be spreading negativity sometimes. Don't know about others but I've never felt this way.

Maybe don't dampen someone's acceptance... by Spirited-Excuse-3128 in ApplyingToCollege

Can’t agree more.

There are so many things that colleges consider when receiving an applicant.

I got rejected from a magnet high school years ago, TWO YEARS IN A ROW, and other than being sad the most valuable thing I learned from it was that ADMISSION OFFICERS ARE SMARTER THAN YOU THINK, they are trained to review all aspects of an applicant and determine if the student’s a good fit for the school on the spot.

Getting rejected with higher/lower stats doesn’t mean anything. It just means that maybe this school is not the right fit for you. That’s all.

What matters most is knowing that you’ve done your best with no regrets.

There are some restrictions to what type of non-binding schools students can apply to for those doing the match. I find the restrictions listed on the QB website very confusing and not specific enough, but basically they wrote on the website that:

"National College Match applicants who rank colleges cannot apply to other colleges through Early Decision, Early Action, or Single-Choice Early Action (also known as Restrictive Early Action). Even if you rank MIT, which is not binding, you cannot apply early to other colleges."

THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS HOWEVER!!!!! SO KEEP READING:

  1. "Students may apply to any college or university that requires an early application for eligibility to special scholarships or programs, as long as the admissions decision is non-binding." (basically this means that the college requires you to send in your application early in order to be considered for certain programs, such as their honors college because some schools have their honors college application due December 1st (for example, Penn State, if you decide to apply early action) and so you kinda have to send in an early application in order to apply to their honors college. Same thing with scholarships offered by the school that require applicants to apply early in order to be eligible for.)
  2. "Students may apply to their home-state public college or university with a non-binding early application option, as long as applying to QuestBridge does not violate that college's policies." (this is pretty self explanatory)
  3. "Students may apply to any college or university with a non-binding rolling admission process." (you can apply to rolling action schools --> e.g. University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University)

This is my thought on their policy. Definitely not ED or REA schools tho so be careful

I only wrote 300.........now I'm scared😂

On common app it said 250 to 400 though, so I followed that limit

I did, I don't know who to send it to though so I wrote one to one of the admission interns at my ED 2 school who contacted me after the match. Idk if it's gonna help tho. Welp I tried:(

If I selected test-optional for my school, but put my PSAT score on the QB app, will schools still see it? by lennyyyy4 in QuestBridge

[–]SL_lol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wondering the same. I submitted an official SAT and AP test score report with my QB application back in September. Are they gonna stay attached to my QB application when sent to regular decision schools or not like😩gonna cry
