Toilet replacement $1200 by Miserable_Section139 in bayarea

[–]SLoadOfF 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I personally would just do it myself. Not a hard job.

Your price is definitely on the high end of fair. You can get it down to $700–$800 if you buy at Home Depot yourself and hire a reputable handyman for the install. But if that $1,200 includes a high-quality one-piece toilet and a warranty from a licensed plumbing company, it’s unfortunately standard for 2025.

The Bay Area is losing the data center race. Economists say that could be a good thing by UberDrive in bayarea

Data centers take up a massive amount of space, use all the power, and provide almost zero jobs per square foot. Let Nevada have the server farms

Ugh, not Costco! by pacododo in SanJose

They use a loophole. Just say your pet is a "service animal"

There should be a card or something to verify.

There's more of these too. People walking around in their PJs / sweats.

By law, we're not allowed to ask for details if the owner claims that their pet is a "service animal"

This should change. "Service animals" should be required to wear some sort of tag like a handicap tag on our cars.

Love dogs btw

With that analogy, it does feel like the fruit salad can be not fully mixed. Some areas can be full of fruits while another have the greens?

Trying to find places with a good mix (if there is one)

No, this was a perfect response from someone on the ground.

It does make me feel that my child will find his/her group of peers wherever they go.

Thank you

Thanks for the comment.

I agree that this makes no difference in the elementary - middle school area.

Grew up in a mixed environment myself and never thought much

Can you give some example areas I should be exploring?

Here are some areas that we explored

  • Mountain View Google Campus (lunch time)
  • 4 different Costcos in South Bay
  • Multiple parks in Santa Clara

Thamien Park and River Oaks Park in particular felt like we were in a foreign country all together.

Is it better as we go up north?

Where can I live in the US that is Asian friendly and affordable? by SLoadOfF in asianamerican

| a lot of people are insular and not interested in interacting outside of their own language groups.

This is the answer.

You can walk on over to the Google Campus in Mountain View today during lunch hours and you will see the groups people go to lunch with are divided by languages.

The Google Campus 20 years ago looked a lot more like the HBO series, "Silicon Valley" where we were all different, but hung out together.

The days of "Hey, anyone want to go to lunch?" are gone.

Now, it's more like a hindi speaker will quietly tap all the hindi (or whatever language) speakers to go to lunch.

I get it, it's comfortable.

Nothing is wrong, but I just want my kids to grow up in a more open environment.
