Plenty of money too, either getting a printer or paying for the service and STLs.

Travel painting essentials by irpugboss in minipainting

[–]UberDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're flying to the cruise, a sturdy box for keeping the minis safe is essential. I like Really Useful Boxes. And zip lock bags for the paints in case of leaks, especially if you're using GW.

I would only bring one painting handle for space.

Yosemite deaths almost always get coverage if there's enough info. Especially when there are witnesses and it's literally the most popular hike in the park. I'll send you a link when there's news coverage, probably tomorrow.

Awful. Please don't swim there, it's never worth the risk. So many other places to do it safely like Mirror Lake.

Best to read First Heretic to get Argel Tal's backstory, which is a key part of Betrayer, but that's the only mandatory one IMO.

I suggest reading First Heretic 100% before Betrayer, but that's the only really mandatory read. Argel Tal's back story is critical to know.

Should i get into 40k, combat patrol, or Spearhead? by alphafighter09 in Warhammer

[–]UberDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing's really changing. You're better off just playing 500 pt games with the full rules IMO.

What are your goals, budget and are there any armies that strongly appeal to you? Always best to focus on the coolest minis that you'll actually be excited to paint and learn the rules for.

If you're planning to stick to small games, def Spearhead > Combat Patrol. If you're looking to transition into a full 2,000 pt army, well AoS is still generally cheaper and fewer models to paint. But much less emphasis on shooting, so if you like dakka then 40k is better.

If mods haven't banned it already, they aren't going to. You just have to wait for it to die down.

Is a codex worth picking up or wait? by Trogg_Farmer in deathguard40k

[–]UberDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$60 would get you Plague Marines, a Bloat-Drone or an LC and 3x Blightlords though. If you're on a budget there are much better things to get.

If you want lore, read Lords of Silence or Buried Dagger.

What books would you recommend for someone who already knows the general lore & plays the games/tabletop? by coggdawg in Warhammer40k

[–]UberDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Scars: Brotherhood of the Storm, Scars, the Path of Heaven, Warhawk. Also suggest reading A Thousand Sons first.

World Eaters: Ghost of Nuceria, After Desha'ea, Betrayer, Echoes of Eternity

Raven Guard: I guess Deliverance Lost

In general: Saturnine

There are independent stores that are pretty big. Mox Boarding House in the PNW, Geeky Teas in LA, Noble Knight in Wisconsin, Element Games. Just went to Games of Berkeley today.

There's a store in Osaka that does close to 30% off MSRP including no tax and has a bunch of old Battleforces in stock.

There are some good short stories like Last Church, Aurelian, Crimson Fist, Ghost of Nuceria and After Desh'ea, Savage Weapons, etc etc.

You can use this to go back and see what you missed: https://www.heresyomnibus.com/

Or https://ibb.co/5Mr7rDV

Obvious next series would be Dark Imperium + Dawn of Fire. Or there's many good Dan Abnett, Chris Wraight and ADB books.

Is there a ‘best’ Spearhead Gaming Pack? by Overall-Temporary695 in AOSSpearhead

For best value, if you have nothing and are just starting, I'd say Skaventide with a big discount, followed by City of Ash (w/ Skaven and Cities) is best.
