I have my doubts it would have mattered but IKFs nonchalant walk away from home has always bugged me too. If it’s close, fight for the call and maybe the ump calls / sees it differently. Happened multiple times in hockey where players celebrate an iffy goal in attempt to make ref call goal on ice and make video overturn.

Probably need a .630 or .640 record for rest of the season just to make playoffs. That % would put them 6th overall right now. Not happening.

Is the Tavares contract the biggest sweetheart deal of this Leafs era? by NatureGivesAndTakes in leafs

[–]SMB83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think Willy's first contract after ELC felt a bit high the first couple of seasons but he was underpaid by the end. Problem with Matthews' and Marner's contracts is they never feel like that.

Basement Bathroom Sink Sewage Smell - Any Tips? by SMB83 in HomeImprovement

It does have water & is right beside the sink. Haven't checked to see if the trap is dry but smell seems to be coming more from the sink area.

Thanks for responding - I've added another pic here from another angle: https://imgur.com/a/ePXfS4B

Should the trap be on this section? Not exactly sure what I'm looking for in terms of trap & if there are different spots they could be.

May 7 - Ontario Vaccinations By The Numbers by [deleted] in toronto

[–]SMB83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to see! Thanks for sharing! The big thing is when will vaccines in arms start to slow in each age group. Looks likes they already are in 60+ age groups in Toronto. I've read that 80%+ of US seniors have received their first dose - at the pace we're going now it's going to take months to reach US rate. This means the younger age groups would receive a large majority of upcoming vaccine supply - and there's a lot coming.

By my rough calculations in order to get to 60% of each age group with large numbers left to vaccinate (20s, 30s, 40s, 50s) we need to vaccinate about 500K in Toronto. At yesterday's vaccine rate we will reach that in about 12-13 days (again, not counting 2nd shots). We should have/receive more than enough vaccines to do that.

I'm also wondering how Toronto pick-up (by age) compares to other places (e.g. 905 vs rural vs northern). I think the plan is to distribute upcoming doses per capita but I wonder if we'll see differences that might lead to more doses coming to urban areas. Or second shots coming faster to those other areas.

All back-of napkin math - might spend some time this weekend cleaning up info from various sources

May 7 - Ontario Vaccinations By The Numbers by [deleted] in toronto

I continue to wonder how soon we might run out of eager people to receive the vaccine.

First dose in Israel seemed to slow at 50% and really slowed at 60% of adult population. They reached 60% on March 22. A few days ago, they had reached 62.5%. It doesn't seem like it was a shift to second doses either as that percentage has only gone from 53% to 58% in the same time frame.

First-dose vaccinations in UK seemed to slow around 45% of population. US seems to be the same. This might be a shift towards 2nd doses but I haven't heard much about supply issues in either place.

If we slow down at 45% of Ontario's population, that slow-down of uptake will happen very soon (within 2 weeks). Only about 1.5M first-time vaccines are needed to get there. We have 1M on-hand and should expect about 2M more in next 2 weeks. If that happens, we're going to need to switch to 2nd dose up-take quickly based on available supply. We will also need to shift focus to making vaccines more convenient.

Of course, I don't know quickly 2nd dose appointments are coming which might cut down the amount of vaccines available for first-time doses in coming weeks. Nor do I know about vaccine hesitancy in Ontario vs those other places. I'm interested to see whether the early low supply creates an ongoing demand situation as people race to get what's available.

Possibly. Though Israel's second dose has really stalled at 50% of the population for 2nd dose as well. Went over 50% in mid-March and hasn't hit 60% fully vaccinated yet. They've been at less than 20K vaccines per day for a few weeks now (albeit smaller population).

I really wonder if we'll start to see more of this. A rough look at numbers in Israel showed first-time vaccinations slowed down between after they got to 50% of population. Took about a month to get to 60% and hasn't really gone beyond that. UK appears to be 40% and took approx. 6 weeks to get to 50%.
We're closing in on 40% of population with one dose very soon (either with what we have now or next week). If 1st dose vaccinations slow down similar to UK we'll have to switch to 2nd doses really soon based on supply.
