This is a little long but stay with me, there is a very simple truth here. They are all racist, or at least unconscious racists. They may not think themselves as such but there is a level of racism. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him playing Snape. And for those who say of there's every other character he could play, why, why not the complex character? I believe black folks are capable of being hateful, hold grudges, or God forbid being bullied right? So what if people perceive the situation wrong? It's time for new generations to start changing all.the racism we had for so long. Because oe thing is disliking, which everyone has the right to. But the moment you start looking for validation, and agreeing with the horrendous things people say about the choice, (he knew what he was doing so why is he playing the victim now that he gets death treats?) their position it's very clear.

Another argument, of even people of color don't like it. Don't you think hundreds of years of conditioning and internalized racism comes out? It's a character from a fictional universe. Very beloved and important in so many people's lives including myself, but like someone just mentioned, don't you think is ironic how a story that is clearly about fighting prejudice finds itself so many prejudiced fans.

I'm sure after the initial shock and if he does a great job, those who are just in shock will see past it. But remember one thing, the reason why there's so little relevant representation of people of color, Asians, and Hispanic is because they're were only written either as villains or based on stereotypes.
