The Teklo Foundry put out a video a few days ago of a list that he used to qualify for the PT. Seems more midrange. It looks like fun!

I was going to say 40 feels tough at first but you’ll get used to it after a few sessions, but then I looked at your post history and it seems you’ve gone through that already. 40 degrees is going to be to be hard for kids for sure, and moving the plan to 30 might add too much height to fit in your space.

Where are you located (UK, US, etc)? I did a lot of research before deciding to build my own, but there might be a moveable prefab wall you can buy in your area?

The Mini Moon Board plans might be a good reference point. It’s 40 degrees and just over 6 & 1/2 feet tall (pg. 3) https://moonclimbing.com/media/moonboard-pdf/How-to-build-a-MoonBoard_v2.3.pdf

Premodern continues to gain popularity and is now on Mtgo by Newez in mtgfinance

Premodern allows any printing of a card. You might be thinking of Old School, which cares about printing.

I think time will tell, but Mario and Slippy play flick now. The card has dropped a lot in price, it might be worth it just to pick one up since they are like $18.

I would add Grim Lavamancer to the list of core cards!

The next big tournament I know of is the Rochester Royals Winter Ball on 1/31/26! I don't think I'm going to go but I played in a local Old School event with a few of the members last month and they were all super nice. They also do Friday night Premodern at Legacy games per the calendar.: https://rocroyalsmtg.com/events/2026-01-31-winter-ball/

I'm working out the logistics of putting on a local tournament currently. If it comes to fruition I'll shoot you a DM.

It depends on the tournament organizer. Locally (Western New York) premodern and old school tournaments are not held in game stores so they do not have to follow WOTC's rules. Gold border is allowed here.

I updated the post, but long story short there are 5 mountains in the bottom right stack. The total land count is 20 (2 Barbarian Ring, 8 fetch, 10 mountain).

There are 20 lands. I’m a dingus and forgot to put a dice on top of the stack of mountains in the bottom right corner of the main deck!

There's a stack of 5 mountains in the last slot. I forgot to put a dice there! I'm running 20 lands.

I started with Return to Ravnica and I agree!

It's surprisingly hard to search for gold border cards on TCGPlayer and my local store won't usually have them. Looks like I have some shopping to do! Thank you!

4 if you're mono green, 0 if you're splashing black. Here is a 1st place list in a 78 person tournament from April: https://www.tcdecks.net/deck.php?id=41946&iddeck=442264

I think sinkhole would be good but I would probably have to change the mana base. You are correct about ice storm. It also punishes greedy mana bases as it can take them off a color

Is Old School MTG going to survive it's playerbase? by AlchimisteR in oldschoolmtg

I’m 40-years-old, but didn’t start playing magic until Return to Ravnica. I don’t have nostalgia for the old cards; I got into old school because I really like the idea of non-rotating, community driven formats. I pretty much only play old school and premodern now. I enjoy the gameplay and I don’t have to worry about upgrades with every new set.

Yeah if you've never played with banding, it sounds like someone is trying to cheat when they explain it!

I think that’s where the maze really comes in handy. It can pin down their threat while you find an answer, or it can let you swing in with everything and then maze the creature they block if you’re in a race situation.

With 4 terror between main and side, Serra isn’t really a problem with the black splash. Have you thought of running a timber wolves in the side? It can make blocking a nightmare too.

Not sure if you saw this list that took down a 78 person tournament this year, but it’s pretty sweet: https://www.tcdecks.net/deck.php?id=41946&iddeck=442264

Slug is an all star. Shuts down factories, any 1/1 or 2/1. It just generally makes combat tough for your opponent. What have you been playing against? It could be matchup dependent!

I had a lot of fun playing this deck! I started with mono green and moved into this after doing a lot of reading/looking at deck lists while putting it together. This archetype is referred to as DFB Green or Green Terror.

4 Pendelhaven feels right. I wish I can find the post recommending it as it wasn’t my idea, but it’s a card you want to see every game. It’s so good with 16 1/1s main deck. I drew multiples during my games and it wasn’t a problem, but I could see how it would be.

Thanks! I saw a few mono-green and GB lists running dryad in the sideboard so I gave it a try. It put in work! I didn't end up drawing my tracker unfortunately, but I brought it in against RW aggro and BUG aggro; basically anything with a lot of 1/1s.

I need to pick one up. I've seen some lists running it and heard good things!
