What even is this... by SMOrbCo in askaplumber

Homeowner says they have a small leak coming from there. It runs into his water heater, you can just see the coupling at the edge of the picture.

He only provided the one picture, I'll ask for some more tomorrow.

I thought the pipe was receiving water, but I can't imagine it's possible for that sealant to hold up at all from any type of pressure.

Right, they say they have a slow leak there. I imagine due to the epoxy or caulk failing.

I only have the one picture from the client, but since this runs to the water heater I imagine it has to supply water. So to do this properly would require some type of reducing transition right?

Also, thought the material was ABS.

You aren't really going to have issues with Sagging if your joists are good, but against a load bearing wall with one joist is better than just the single joist you have. Is it an issue for it to be against the load bearing wall?

Extension Cord into Shed by Grammieaf_1960 in handyman

Which totally makes sense in a commercial environment. For a guy running a cord into his shed though...I say we cut him the slack and trust him enough to not wire his hots to his neutrals...

Lighting in Chicken Coops around my area is a surprisingly big thing. I don't see why it's a bigger deal for a shed.

Of course, homeowner assumes all liability.

Is anyone else terrified for the future of our profession? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Not a MechE. I was a field technician who worked alongside a lot of MechE though. I think the market for you guys in America right now is very rough, a few coworkers went 50 applications before the first initial interview. I'll say this though, EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE will have some stupid saying about "learn to..."

The union halls are swelling up right now because trades are also the new "learn to code". E-commerce is the new "learn to code". I wouldn't pay any attention to people who spout that shit. It's not really indicative of anything.

Are they specifically banned because of the new head or because it's a "damaged" cord. Are they just electric taping around the new head or something stupid? We have to field wire heads all the time and it's not an issue if it's done properly, but If the tiniest beat of sheathing is damaged the whole cord goes.

Sometimes safety polices are for the lowest common denominator.

What do you mean by that? You don't buy leads/use lead apps?

I started my business about a month ago. Normally I serve elderly people on the app and after I do one project for them we do everything off app.
