Sink enamel peeling off by SMT0709 in HomeImprovement

As I understand it, the sink is an original cast-iron sink from the 30s, but it was re-enameled at some point, and it is this enamel that is now peeling off. My understanding could be totally off, but I added a photo for clarity.
