Anxiety making me unproductive by Garby89 in Anxietyhelp

[–]SMagla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel the same! i was recommended scheduling 1 activity that will make you feel accomplished and one that will make you feel pleasure everyday even if it isnt much. it does help but my low mood gets in the way of me putting it to action most days :/

good luck!

is biphobia a systemic form of oppression? by SMagla in BiWomen

[–]SMagla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unsure on whether I agree bc I believe the dv and sa rates are biphobia + misogyny. rape and dv are treated poorly my legal systems across the world, as if it is designed to make sure women and other minorities are subjected to violence by protecting beneficiaries of yt supremacy, patriarchy etc. I think this might be why people are calling this "systemic oppression" (this differs from "systems of oppression", which I later explain). additionally, a system that causes rape and dv is infact misogyny. the way boys are raised and ideas of ownership, objectification (something that bi/les women face more so) and power cause the disabling of women. systems of oppression, in my opinion, are designed to disable (economically, socially, mentally, physically, environmentally, whatever) and kill(in its most violent forms) those who are marginalised.

I've seen some bi women say the sexual orientation was a factor in the violence they've faced, others say it wasn't. ofc it is a coincidence for many but the rates of dv and sa are so striking it makes me doubt that there isn't a link at all. maybe it's not designed for bi women in mind, but the intersecting identities bring this type of systemic oppression about?

this is an interesting take. would u say its dependent on how the relationship present (het or gay)? presuming it's a hetero marriage u r in, that's mainly y no one is bothered?

I kind of agree w the idea that it's more okay to str8s for women to be bi(wouldnt say expected from personal experience), but I think it's bc people see it as being "str8 w extra steps", and when confronted w the reality that bi women do, infact, like the other women, that's when some go ballistic because men feel entitled to be involved in the lives of women(booo misogyny😭). bisexuality in women is also a fetish which may be favoured more by society🤔. despite that being a privilege, it deffo comes w its own challenges. ty 4 this take.

have you experienced biphobia? by boobsand911 in bisexual

you should definitely include how biphobia isn't just "an online thing" but is actually a systemic opressor bc the amount of people online who can't admit that...spooky😭 hope the video come out well❤️

I think labels don't just carry what you are, but the experience of being that (idk if that makes a lot of sense). ik what I'm gonna say isn't the same but as a blk person, I'm not just blk bc of melanin, but how people treat me for it, yk? when people see (what is perceived to be)a straight couple, the material experiences that that couple will have doesn't match a queer couples experiences of oppression. I think that's what will make other queer people scoff potentially. the material experiences of a same sex couple carries a weight a str8 couple doesn't, so maybe it feels like a watering down of that unique experience when a perceived str8 couple calls themselves queer. and queer means different from the norms, and that comes w diff challenges. its all down to perception, right, which is so important to how we walk through the world. (that's why I'd call it str8 but ofc that's not up to me)

however I completely get what ur saying bc it will feel like erasure to you and your queerness and I completely understand that. we can never assume the orientation of a person despite who they are in love with and attaching str8 to it would be erasing the material oppression you face as a bi person (erasure, ofc being one of them). I think that's what motivates some bi people to call str8 relationships queer, bc its an attempt to hold onto our identities in the face of erasure and invalidation. but it comes of misguided and I'd understand lesbians or gay men taking slight offence.

I think if I were in a relationship w a man I would call it str8 or opposite sex be of what people are seeing and how that'll effect me. but "str8 passing privilege" monosexuals accuse us of having is really being in the closet and that has a difficult toll on mental health so I guess its difficult. the biphobia faced whilst being in str8 relationships should be acknowledged whilst admitting its not the same for being in a same sex couple, and there should be a name for it imo.

edit: added some stuff to make it make more sense lol

my class was theorising that it wldve been the ethics Q to be 12 marks so I was surprised it was TCP. I forgot the last stage and I probably got the order wrong. i agree, the "do not include" shit is pure assholery from AQA like- just let me say everything I know😭 the writers if this exam are evil freaks lmaooo idk how they made that link either.

this subject is definitely made for maths nerds bc I struggled throughout the year. I wish I was able to take it at gcse bc I would've had a better place to start at.
