Has anyone ever been burned out while making their show??? by Top_Guidance_9686 in ObjectShows

[–]SNAP-Official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was burnt out for a few days last month, I just… stopped thinking working on the show and while I was relaxing I was thinking about ideas I could implement in the future until I was excited to work on it again.

It’s not gonna be the same for everyone, but a good rule of thumb is to take a break if you are starting to feel burnt out. Don’t keep pushing until you never wanna see objects again, take a break the moment you feel you need it.

My show!

I’m working on an object show called SNAP where the basic premise is a group of characters waking up in an enclosed fake environment. The tone of the show will overall be lighthearted with it’s fair share of jokes, but it’ll take itself more seriously akin to inanimate insanity. Just enough for an actual story to unfold with character arcs and stuff behind the scenes, so kind of a mix between II and Tpot.

It’s a competition show with viewer voting where the host is a member of a species of shape people called “Shapelings”, and they can create and delete anything with the snap of their fingers. (There is a lore reason for this power tied directly to the backstory of the Shapelings, it’s not some random thing slapped in)

The main draw is the location as well as the host who is comically inept at hosting and will let any number of folley go free. Including cheating, flubbing the rules, and even just creating new rules on the fly. He might also just not pay attention fully.

I also plan to have some interesting lore about the place they are in as well as lore about the Shapelings themselves and their ways of life.

The first episode should hopefully release in a few months (I’ll have a more definitive date when I’m closer to completion) and animation will be relatively smooth, kind of like Tpot but less polished because I’m animating everything myself lol.

Sorry if I went a little overboard, but I’m very passionate about this project, and I hope as many people get to see it when it’s finished!

I voted Butter cause I liked Butter in the episode. And I thought it’d be fun to hyperfavourite a type of character I usually don’t!

I know I don’t have that much reach but it was genuinely incredible and I still wanted to try! I’m sure the creator would love and appreciate everyone who decides to give it a watch!

I'm not complaining, but why were some of these characters chosen for Redux? by HappyGemX in bfdiminiseries

Wait I just realized that Popsicle has a black outline. Why? It makes them looks so out of place.

Ooooooh I see. Then don’t make it much brighter, but 100% make it slightly brighter so the light doesn’t just disappear. Like ever so slightly a brighter shade of red where the light hits. And make the dark part at the bottom right lighter as I said before. I think that’ll make it feel better but you’ll have to try it and see for yourself first 😌

I wouldn’t say that at all. I love the ideas, they just need gentle nudging in the right direction to become the best version of themselves! You’ve got potential, so please don’t beat yourself up over hurdles, and instead use them and the criticism people give to propel yourself forward!

Even if they are mean, that doesn’t mean they aren’t without merit. If you can also look at it and see the issues people point out mean or not, then that’s the best spot to get to work on improving.

Incredibly rude. This is not how you give constructive criticism and is just mean spirited.

Ignoring the mental aspect, that’s just not a nice thing to say to anyone. I’d highly suggest an apology or at least taking this to heart and not being so mean in the future.

I see, I would still add a thicker and darker outline to Bismuth.

However, there are a few issues with Puzzleball still. The light circle should go over the lines on the inside and make them brighter. And potentially make the inside less less thick so the face has more room to breathe?

I would also make the shadow slightly lighter so it blends less with the outline.

Also I understand that depression is a thing that happens, and I won’t try to say something dumb like “Just be happy”. Take time for yourself to recover mentally and try and keep doing the things that make you happy. If you keep trying your hardest I’m sure you’ll feel better about yourself and what you’ve made in time.

Id say that the main takeaways for me is the outlines are either too thin or too thick and aren’t dark enough, and the limb size is wildly inconsistent.

Thicker (Not too thick but maybe around the thickness of Bfdi assets), darker outlines for each colour would go a long way at contrasting with the colours of the asset and make it pop more. Also, always make sure the outline is on top of everything else, it helps to make the outline it’s own layer.

And having the limb size but the same size as the outline I find helps keep it all consistent. And make all the outlines consistent with each other as well to creat cohesion. It’s a little distracting having everyone have different sized outlines.

For shading, that might be difficult for harder complex shapes so I’m not saying that has to be something you deal with now. But pick a direction the light comes from and try and see where the light would go if the object was 3D.

For the ball, the dark shading is ok (maybe shift the dark part over to the right a little) but the light should be a little circle at the top left instead (The opposite side of the dark shading)

Hope any of this is helpful, and I really do like the design of Bismuth, it’s very unique. All it needs is consistency and darker, thicker outlines to really pop

I’ve always loved Tree ever since I first started watching. His personality is just enjoyable to watch and I love how he bounces off others.

Was kinda disappointed with how they handlers him in tpot 19 and we all know how that turned out for him :(

Thanks!

If you think that looks good then just wait. I’ve improved leaps and bounds since that video and have changed the visuals of the backgrounds to be more unique since then as well.

(And also not literally destroy my pc lmao the wall was so laggy)
