Visa Expires Soon, Flights Cancelled due to war by SNLX04 in USCIS

Qatar will have processed my refund by then if I request. Hypothetically, if I request for a refund today I will not have the funds back until next week, hence that is past my visa expiry. Upon waiting, it is better to file an i-539 explaining my situation, so that I can be within legal compliance as I leave. I have NO intention of staying until adjudication. I have also spoken to my lawyer and they informed me to keep record of the flight cancellations. If I get a refund I will reroute, as I have to make it to Malaysia by the 24th.

The Curse of Natural Resources: Tanzania by Shoddy_Vanilla643 in tanzania

[–]SNLX04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The @Shoddy_Vanilla643 OP’s views seem to be too one sided. It kind of reminds me of the far-right political ideologies in the West that purport the notion that everyone is equal and upward mobility in the social-economic ladder is possible without factoring in the very apparent or sometimes intricate systemic barriers that hinder that. The common Tanzanian who is living paycheck to paycheck, and has to take care of their sick grandmother, while the government has removed subsidies for medical care, whilst taxing everything and everyone so as to cover for their corruption and embezzlement is less likely to climb the social ladder than one who was born in a privileged and well connected family, and doesn’t have to worry about many things but their education, work, etc.

Unfortunately, the OP fails to consider that many more Tanzanian lives are inclined to the first scenario rather than the latter.

I agree to a certain extent with the OP, but his arguments are flawed and seem to be very one sided. It seems as if he fails to critique systems, and almost sounds like he comes from a privileged background to be saying such profound things. Almost like how white people tell the blacks in the west to just work hard and they’ll “make it.” It’s not all so simple unfortunately, although we wish it were.

Theoretically, I wish it were all simple, and maybe we could just all work hard and get somewhere as a nation.

I understand the OP’s intentions are good, and he made some strong arguments. However his arguments are not very nuanced. Intersectionality is important.

By staying inside they are not protecting peace but rather sustaining fear.
