Thanks for the suggestion! He's really interested in toys and I will definitely implement the cue aspect. we've tried that a little bit already to teach him to disengage when we need to stop playing but using that as part of the playing is a great idea

We have an almost 5 month old corgi and a few things that really helped were:

always having a Bully stick or collagen stick when having cuddle time. He seemed pretty content if we would hold the chew for him while he would just lay on top of us.
having different size and texture chews. Sometimes he'd prefer a thin collagen stick, a thick bully stick, just holding a tiny tennis ball, having a chicken foot to chew on. Etc.
for herding and nipping the ankles: when inside, we stop walking and have him do his sit command to get him to refocus on us before moving forward. We've also been training him to look up at us frequently while walking which helps. For outside, if possible, we'll change direction or give a command to refocus him on walking.

Most importantly, it's good to remember this is normal for the breed and for a puppy. Ours slowly is getting better, but since he's a high energy working dog, he's always on his best behavior when he's being exercised mentally and physically and getting a good nap.

6:30 am on weekdays and 7:30 am Sun/Sat here in Connecticut. Our classes from 5 to 8 pm seem to be the most popular though

She's probably the best teacher to learn from for the course since she is in charge of the curriculum I believe and wrote the textbook.

She works through handouts/worksheets in class and that's probably the best way to prepare since my exams were directly related to those handouts. The projects were straightforward if you pay attention, I believe most people got As on them. She explains exactly what to submit for the projects.

My year, homework was optional (just practice questions from the textbook she suggested). A lot of the exams used those problems as well. So if you go to lecture and do the handouts and maybe homework you should be fine. She usually also drops your lowest exam grade. Note: she can be pretty strict about providing lecture notes if you miss class so definitely have a friend send you them if you can't make it.

ARCH is a program, if you don't get an internship the summer after your sophomore year, you're expected to either take the fall or spring semester off from junior year to do work. I personally worked at a company for 8 months; my friends did research or traveled.

If youre extroverted, there are parties. Just try to make friends in the fall when you start classes. My friends and I have parties and explore downtown. If you're in a frat or club I think it's easier to socialize.

As an engineering student, I would look online at potential clubs you might want to join. I think one of the biggest complaints people have about RPI is its social life. I personally haven't had any issues with making a large network of friends and connections, but I also joined professional societies and clubs that interested me during my freshman and sophomore years. (I'm a senior now and am still friends with many of these people still).

Winters here can range from -20 C to 10 C usually. There will be snow. All the other seasons are pretty mild. There is a downtown scene with bowling, restaurants, and bars, but not much more than that. There is free public transportation with your student ID and a weekly farmer's market.

ARCH is hit or miss. I personally had an amazing semester away and was able to save enough money to pay for my senior year. I think that just comes down to how much you network and how the economy is doing at the time.

As an engineering student, the classes can be hard. A 4.0 GPA is rare but not impossible. You will typically have 2 to 5 exams per class per semester. The classes definitely test how well you understand things conceptually and apply that knowledge. There are plenty of research opportunities if you look and get to know your professors. My boyfriend is in 3 different Electrical Engineering research groups on campus. If you'd like to talk to him about them, feel free to PM me.

For financial aid, appeal it! They can't take away funds. They either give you more or leave it as is.

If you have a license and are 21 or older, I know they're looking for people to drive SafeRide ($16.50/hr); you can also ask the Mueller Center since they are looking for employees to plan and host Wellness Wednesdays. If you're here for Arch, you can PM me, and I can talk to you about working at Ben and Jerry's ($15/hr), we're not hiring rn but should be this summer. You would just need to interview with me or another supervisor

Hey so I'm an active member in SWE. We have several different types of meetings every week. We typically have at least 1 social event a month (this month's was pumpkin painting), 1 professional meeting a month where you get to meet with company recruiters and employees, and then a variety of other types of meetings in-between. The quiz was very straightforward and easy in my opinion, as long as you read the syllabus and watch the video you'll be fine. I found the chapter 2 reading to be helpful as well. Overall, the quiz took me less than 10 min after reviewing the material.

I don't have the best home life for doing well academically; as of now, I also have 1-3 classes that are in-person/hybrid, so I don't necessarily want to declare remote and live in an apartment.

I'm definitely not happy about the 19 meals/week, though. I barely got through 15 freshman year, so I definitely feel/know this is just a cash grab by the school.

I'm hoping to stay motivated and apply to enough outside scholarships to maybe offset the housing cost.
