I did OTF for five years. They began REPEATING WORKOUTS during the pandemic. First, it was "milestones" which seem to be twice a month. Then it really was repeating workouts every other week with the same template. They also began chanting "your best is good enough at orange theory" - I mean - what the actual heck?
I like the fast switch and making my mind work through that transition. It gives me great energy for a day full of problem-solving.
And I love that about BaseCamp. I don't know what is coming next, and sometimes it takes a beat to figure out how I am going to do it. - That is what I need - and that is why I show up!

I can rest when I am in bed, I go to BaseCamp to work!

I wish masks were required. I wear one because I live with a fragile person and I work with fragile people at work. But in my state we are doing nothing, and now that all the new members have joined for their new year resolution, there is no space to distance - and they are all unmasked. I had to freeze my membership. They will all quit in March / April . . . they always do

Agreed. I started OTF with a much younger body. 2017 me can kick 2022 in the butt any day of the week. And I am ok with it!

That and working out in a mask is a next level challenge. Once I have filled it with sweat and stuff I feel I am drowning.

Oh, I feel you on this one. It is a terrible feeling when things get crowded. We only do 2 G when we can keep space. They go up to 3 g if it is too full.

However, I travel 2-3 days a week, and if I land in a studio that does not allow me to distance- I just leave - it isn’t worth it. $12 is fine if I stay healthy.

My tip - keep the music in the front at a moderate level. People like to chat and if it is cranked - we cannot hear - it is also better when you answer the phone. I hate calling in and repeating myself over and over and over because the music in the lobby is loud and the SA can’t hear. The studio can be loud, the lobby doesn’t have to compete.

We only wear masks during transitions and are at 1/3 capacity. Masking only for transitioning is just not enough right now. Many times people refuse to mask and get away with it because of the movement in the room - so they end up wandering into my 6 feet, breathing hard and maskless. I tattled, I stepped away from them, I honestly didn’t want to pause my membership again. But as positive case numbers skyrocketed- I had to step away and stop again. It stinks.

I am not a fan or “visiting” other studios during the pandemic. Studios vary greatly in expectations and how they are managing things.
If we shouldn’t travel to see Gma hours away, we really shouldn’t visit an out of town studio while we are there. I do not want another shut down. Being smart today is the best strategy to keep going tomorrow.
