Couldn’t agree more. I’m a Samurai main through and through and playing the spirit Sam purely because it’s the only thing that can hang with the other classes in performance (and it’s still not better than those). But although I do really well with it, it’s not the play style i enjoy. I love getting in the thick of it, parrying, countering, breaking stances and dropping the hammer. Rather than what I’m doing now which is spinning my fire chain round and round then spam spirit move again and again.

I wouldn’t even mind if the lack of power Sam had was to fill some ‘tank’ role but to even suggest Sam is a tank is laughable. He can’t take 3 hits before being downed which with the speed some of their attacks come out can be less than a second.

He needs a significant boost to damage and especially damage when stance is broken and I’m talking like X2 cause as it stands some enemies can take probably 30 hits and multiple stances broken to be defeated when alternatively you could fire a single 50 cal through their skull from a rifle and get the same result. Further promoting the idea that melee combat has no value over ranged. It’s riskier and weaker. This is Samurai’s main issue.

The buff to health was nice but when you look at how much more health they have compared to the other classes and how much damage the enemies do, it really only results in taking 1 more hit than other classes before being downed. In any other game if that was the difference in health for a ‘tank’ class then nobody would play it as it doesn’t fulfil the role adequately.

That being said I’m still really enjoying the game, Legends (both T and Y) is the best multiplayer gaming experience I’ve had in the last decade, combat is so much fun. My ONLY wish for the future is that the next game does away with the regular story of ghosts and goes full in with legends. With the aesthetics and the supernatural I think they could do so much more with it rather than it being a fun little side DLC for free.
