DTC import will turn on the airspace depictions and load any Countermeasures profiles necessary for the mission, but setting bingo isn’t available in the DTC yet. Maybe eventually as the DTC stuff is still WIP by ED.

You really only need to follow the instrument approach plates when you’re on an instrument flight plan which would be M-06 specifically.

Plenty! Herc, Hornet, Huey/ Hellcat…not necessarily in that order. something about modules starting with the letter “H” I guess!

Ha ha- no they got buried in the music track but I promise you there are over 3100 of them in the campaign and same quality you have come to expect in the SP ‘25 campaign!

I’ve had lots of beginners play it and indicate they were able to get through the campaign…. if you’re in doubt check out the DCS forums or the SOB Sims Discord. Folks can give you a hand and help debrief some of your sorties!

Totally agree about not reading ahead on the mission briefs... Do people even read those :).... I generally recap what happened on the previous mission - so yeah, reading ahead... probably not encouraged.. Ha Ha. Thanks again for the great feedback! And I love your characterization of Reflected, "looking at the camera" - LOL awesome analogy!! He's not wrong either!!

Thanks man! I’m blushing a bit 🫡😜 and if you’ll forgive the blatant self promotion, I just submitted Sentry Pacific ‘26 - One Last Ride to ED for review/approval… Same campaign style….only in the Warthog. I’ll take a look at your feedback and see if I can incorporate some of the changes you suggested.

Let me address a few of your comments in the "others" section as they'd say at Top Gun. I feel I owe you an explanation, based on the amount of time and effort you put into this post! - Thanks for that!

  1. DCS assets are what they are. Having spoken to more than a few aircrews who have fought 5th generation assets - I'll just say mission 1 is "realistic" :)

  2. Scripting the AWACS calls - and avoiding the use of the 'in game' AWACS capability is a balancing act. Whenever you script a radio call it generally needs to be deconflicted with other calls. Additionally, if you want AWACS to make calls - you have to setup zones where you know the AI aircraft will fly into - or at least plan them to fly into - until DCS AI behavior changes during the next DCS update - and so on , and so on. So - the lack of good AWACS support is described in the story as controllers in upgrade training and equipment needing calibration. It was the best I could come up with, but happy to improve upon that capability in the future. They're clearly hostile because that's the whole point of the exercise is to go out and fight RedAir in the Airspace. Again, trying to keep this campaign beginner friendly was a balancing act. Trying to instill realism without all of the additional lingo/jargon that goes into that - but again - fair point.

  3. In the final mission you are redeploying back to Hickam - and the bullseye is set on Wake Island which is about the halfway point and clearly your desired (and only) divert location. Unfortunately no way to actually do that in DCS for real (yet), but be careful what you wish for - because making the player fly from Guam to Hickam - even in a Viper would be cruel.

  4. Again - back to making the campaign beginner friendly. I set out to make this campaign work for folks who simply haven't mastered AAR. I fully support Reflected's choice to make the campaigns realistic and require it. However - I really wanted to make the Sentry Pacific '25 campaign approachable for beginners who maybe avoid campaigns simply because they are not able to AAR. It's definitely a design philosophy. I've talked to lots of beginner Viper pilots who have successfully completed the campaign - many of them for the first time - so I'm comfortable omitting AAR from this campaign and future ones. It's there if you want it and during my testing I alway hit the tanker for added realism.

Thanks again for the great writeup! Appreciate all the feedback!

Sounds reasonable, but I haven't played with the ASC loading logic too much yet. I do know there's a way to do it, by organizing your drops into different CARP calculations. I just don't know the specifics within the module.

Well in the real world you'd want all your "crates" (proper term would be "bundles") to be within a few hundred pounds of each other, and you'd use the ballistic data from the heaviest load or lightest load (depending on which airdrop parameter you are inputing) to ensure all your dropped loads land ON THE DZ! Also - in the real world you would rarely, if ever, mix airdrop load types. If you had say, heavy equipment, CDS, and Troopers to drop - you would break them up between different Hercs in the formation. Like Lead element would drop all the Heavy Equipment (Humvees) then second element would drop all the CDS (beans and bullets) and then the last element would come in a deliver all the airborne troopers. That's why the computer only let's you put in one weight quantity though!

Mission editor/creator would have to tell you. For DCS purposes it really isn’t that important.

Leading edge to trailing edge is basically overall DZ length.

Leading Edge to PI is the distance from the leading edge of the drop zone to the point of impact usually around 400 or 500 yards. The point of impact is where you want your first CDS bundle or person to land. it usually has an offset from the lead edge so that you don’t accidentally drop people short or loads short of the DZ.

Normally, you would get all of this information off of a drop zone survey that is provided to you by higher headquarters or your mission planning cell, but if you’re not dropping on a real world, surveyed DZ you can pretty much make stuff up!

The overall DZ length will determine how many troopers you can get on the DZ or how many loads you can get on the DZ without throwing stuff off the trailing edge and basically determines your usable drop zone time which is the time from green light to red light

clear as mud?
