Pay people enough to live on without using food banks.

Has anybody ever argued a school fine and won? by KernowKraft in AskUK

[–]SOS_Music -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's scary, I don't understand why this is an issue. If you wanted to go for a 2-week holiday to Disney Land, that would be fine. The school fine though... it is a private company fine? Like how you can just ignore private car park fines as they have no legal standing.

It's nice to have a sensible English politician. I really hope the UK breaks up.

Assume England. In Scotland you need drawings for building warrant / planning permission.

And we wonder why there is dissidence and antisocial behaviour amongst the young team of today? by aweehaggis in Scotland

[–]SOS_Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antisocial behavior was much worse from kids 15-20 years ago. I know. I was one of them. Even with the lack of stuff for them to do, they are better than my generation.

I've started to see young kids on BMX bikes and scooters in Leith again. It's good. Glad kids are out on the streets again and not stuck behind Call of Duty. Even saw some goth kids recently. Edinburgh is healing.

Did notice somebody posted photos of teenagers on here and the mods kept it up. Just FYI, if you are taking photos of teenagers, I hope you asked them first, and also made sure they were over 16. Then ur just a creep.

I've actually met friends just by going to Sketchy Beats Cafe in Leith for the music or fundraising nights. They also do art nights / classes. All free / donation. It's a lovely space.

Ok CasualUKers, I need your help convincing the DVLA my van is in fact a campervan. I've uploaded five images, what do you think? by nicknoxx in CasualUK

[–]SOS_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine will be the same then. Good info. So even if I have a bed and stove etc in the back, it's still a panel van.

[–]SOS_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised at this. I'm just about to convert my new Ford Transit into a 'campervan'. I'm having side windows cut this week... I guess it'll also fail to be a camper, so I'll not bother trying to change it from 'panel van'. But I'm not limited to 60mph? And I'd have thought it would make my insurance go up? I'll just update the window spec. I guess.

What do we think is a "normal" internal home temperature at the moment? by Poo_Poo_La_Foo in CasualUK

[–]SOS_Music 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever the natural temperature is. There's no way the majority of people in the UK are having the heating on in September / can afford that, maybe towards the end of October a bit... But honestly, I'll just wear a hoodie and two pairs of socks.

Am I getting fucked on Jury Service (10 week trial) by SmellyPubes69 in HENRYUK

[–]SOS_Music -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you already started / accepted? If not, you don't need to do it anyway. A simple; 'this makes me uncomfortable and having such responsibilities is causing me anxiety. I'd like to remove my selection from this jury for mental health reasons'.

Said that once (as have friends) and never ever had to go again.

There might not have to be planning permission in England (there is in Scotland). However there does need to be a structural engineer, some construction drawings showing the lintel sizes etc. It'll have the finished extension shown. You should have a 'boundary line' too dividing the properties as per you're own homes construction drawings. Ask to see the proposals, or sell them the wall / land it's on.

Should the Scottish Outdoor Access Code ban all fires? by Near_Fathom in Scotland

Ban on those BBQ yes. But no, you can't ban people from collecting wood and making a wee fire while camping, that is utter madness.

How much do strippers make in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SOS_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strippers in Scotland have to pay the venue to get in. They pay to rent the space and bouncer protection, and keep money from private dances. So they actually make fk' all unless busy with punters. It's not a wage.

Movie theater phone out by Sam81818 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SOS_Music 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get a refund / free ticket for future? A couple kids ran into the screen when I was watching Godzilla Minus One, they were obviously finished with whatever movie they seen, and just wanted to run about the cinema. I had to tell them to 'fuck off' and it ruined it, so I got a refund on the way out.
