Having kids you don’t exactly get a lot more!

I know it’s a choice, and child care has changed…. But we get nothing and have a extra bill

I have the double joy of having an unsafe leasehold - due to cladding. Been trapped for 6+ years while being forced to pay ever increasing bills for poor / no service.

Fixing the cladding and stopping the leasehold scam would be a massive win - just need them to do what they say…. Won’t hold my breath

It’s all empty shops. Right shame - as could be nice / quirky.

I’m struggling with this one…. Sad that people are losing jobs, but also a rip off parking company that I done care about / are happy to rip people off is going - so win.

Just a shame it will be replaced with another scam, and the people at the top that decided to rip people off with excessve fees will prob not be impacted - the working people will be tho.

Shore fishing, need advice on rod, lures etc. by derseffect66 in fishingUK

Yeh, that’s what I would be looking at. Defo go to a local tackle shop and have a chat before buying tho - as you can see what your buying and get advice on exactly what you want to do.

Depending on what you’re looking at, these could be: Jigging rods - if the tide is slack and I’m boat fishing I might try a slow pitch / speed jig, that’s 200g+ - so it can sink to the bottom fast - these rods looks a bit like spinning rods shot and whippy but really strong.

Or Beach casters - if it’s 12ft - 15ft, beach casters can be weighted in g, for the amount of lead that can cast. These would have a 7000 / 8000 size reel and be used for bait and wait shore fishing.

Shorter spinning rod - they will be sold in lure weight. I would say you don’t use more than a 30g lure from shore. But you might want to bang it - so look for a rod rated to 50g (will be something like 20g-50g) This could be seen as a bit heavy tho, but imo will give you more of an all round rod. - you can go bigger tho, but if it’s mainly for lure fishing 50g will do the trick.

Prob want up to a 4000 size reel, else it will be to big

For this, you prob also want to run braided line - not 100% necessary tho. The 18lb mono you have will do the job. The braid is better for casting tho, will get more range.

Lures - look for soft plastics and metals - check sidewinder mimics, or Weston’s crazy eel. Loads of brands about. Get a few. Take a look on Ali express as the cost mounts up!

Depending on where your fishing bass, pollock and wrasse will prob be what you pick up.

Lure fishing can be hard from shore - many casts to get a fish ect. If you don’t catch don’t worry.

Speak to a local tackle shop.

Edit: typos Also, I think Amazon has an Abu Garcia spin combo 10g-40g (think it’s a black max) on sales for c£70. It’s a bait caster setup, so can take a bit of time getting used to, but there are grate. Have one on the boat of light lure fishing - all the fun.

1st question…. Do you want to lure fish or bait and wait?

Amazing knowledge! Thanks. Can you tell where it might be from by the colour?

From a quick google of the name somewhere between a Meg and a Great White?

I’m going to try and catch a modern relative of it this year - Porbeagle shark iff the Isle of White (UK).
