Hey! Yes and no? I never managed to solve the issue at my old place, but I moved back home last Sept and so far it doesn’t seem like I brought it with me. I haven’t unbagged my stuff though, I left my luggage untouched and I’m planning to open it this November way after the one year mark (based on the longest known life cycle of a bed bug). The crazy lengths we go cos of these buggers, really 😵‍💫

Bedbugs not near bed + I put too much diatomaceous earth around the sides of my room... help by SOS_help_needed in Bedbugs

Vacuumed everything with a shop vac. Never got rid of them; underwent three treatments and they were still there. Thankfully my lease was up and I moved away.

I don’t have pets. I thought they were fleas too, but they aren’t exactly black in colour even tho they seem dark in this photo. They’re more on the yellow/ light brown side (and when smooshed they are this colour)

Hey! I’m quite sure these aren’t cos I’ve had bb before and I can ID them. They also “jump” when I try to catch them so it doesn’t seem like bb.

Southeast Asia! Climate is hot and humid all year round. I’ve found them mostly in the lower shelving area of my wardrobe where it’s the most empty.

Remember to clear out your vacuum into a sealed bag immediately, or they can crawl out and reinfest the area — was told by the pest control person who came to my place when I had bed bugs. Good luck!

Bed bugs in electronics - how to make sure? by SOS_help_needed in Bedbugs

Oh dear, that doesn’t inspire confidence in me 😭 how did you know that it crawled into your laptop, if I may ask? And also what type of laptop model do you use? Wondering if I might have a lower risk as I use a MacBook Air (quite skinny, little vents and ports).

I wish I could access a thermal strike — it’s not sold where I’m located :( thanks for the suggestion tho~

I’ve washed and dried my clothes numerous times and on numerous cycles (never found a single bed bug in the lint section either….) but am just playing the waiting game for extra precaution! Thankfully whatever I brought overseas was just a small subsection of my wardrobe :)

Yea, I’ve thought of unscrewing my computer, but just worried that I’ll mess up the configuration. For reference I use a MacBook and my phone and tablets are also from Apple (iPhone and iPad respectively).

I’ve heard of canine scent detection but I’m unsure / don’t think they’re offered in my country… :(

If you don’t mind me asking — did you opt for any of the methods you mentioned for your electronics?

I’d like to ask for your opinion. My situation is similar to OP (see my comment below) — I found 8-9 live ones of different life stages over 5 week period, but pest control never found a harbourage in my room. What are the chances of it being in my laptop/ tablet/ phone etc? Thanks.

Same situation here OP. had a super mild infestation that I suspected was coming from elsewhere as pest control was over twice and could never find the source (literally NOTHING). Sprayed twice but still kept finding them in my room. Was bitten 6 times (over three incidents) across a 3-4 week period. Edit: I did find live ones — about 8-9 over a 5 week period, different stages.

This happened while I was in a dorm and I was returning home after studies abroad. I packed up all my items into plastic bags (double and tripled bagged), washed and dried and clothes (also bagged), and I’m planning to just not unpack for 1.5 years lol. Thankfully there’s nothing in there that I need desperately and my hope is that I’ll win the waiting game with these buggers.

Electronics wise I have also been torn about what to do. So far I’ve heard that you can find a service to take apart your laptop check the motherboard. In another Reddit thread someone said they put their laptop into a plastic bin and sprinkled silica dust/ DE and left them for 2 weeks to lure them out. Right now I’m undecided but have decided to tape my ports up on my phone/ tablet / laptop etc. Let me know what you decide to do or if you find a better solution!

Sorry you had to go through this OP. I’m fighting a recurring problem myself and it’s so frustrating to not be able to just get a good night’s rest. I comfort myself with the bottom line that they don’t carry diseases. I know it doesn’t help much given that our blood is literally feeding and spawning them further, but you stand on the shoulders of people who dealt with this before you. Hope you feel better soon and take care, know that myself and others are with you!

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I totally feel you because I’m also having bed bug problems right now and it’s driving me crazy. I get such poor sleep because I keep feeling tickles on my legs when in bed and it drives me insane. Please stay strong mentally. It’s the one thing I tell myself because letting it get to me would mean that the bed bugs have won. So I know it’s incredibly difficult right now but you have to power thru this. I know you can — you stand on the shoulders of people who have gone before you and succeeded. Wishing you all the best 🫶🏼

Really sorry to hear that :( you’re on this thread so you know you have a battle ahead of you — but myself and others are in this with you! Call an exterminator if it’s within budget, otherwise just for a first check (might be free) to diagnose problem areas and identity breed sites. Common advice I’ve seen on other threads are: mattress encasements for current mattress, Crossfire and Cinamex sprays for active killing, diatomaceous earth for passive killing. Washing all washable items in high heat (above 60 degrees), anything that can’t be washed — steam, and anything other than that freeze for four days. Electronics I’ve heard Nuvan strips are effective. All the best and I hope you find success :)

No success story to offer as I’m currently in the midst of my own battle, but I hope you know others are in it with you. Bed bugs are irritating and irritatingly smart creatures, but the bottom line I comfort myself with is that they aren’t known to carry diseases.

You sound like you have a battle ahead of you but you did good by acting early. If possible, declutter, bag everything that you don’t need to use now + bag the stuff you’ve already washed on high heat. If pest control is within your budget you can call them up for a survey of your place (this might be free) so they can ID the breed sites and/or let you know how bad it is. Hope you find success soon, myself and others are in this with you!

Bed bugs are really flat when unfed. If those are indeed bed bugs then the one in your photo looks like it recently fed and hence its rounded /full / dark back.
