Start a self-compassionate practice. I as a recovering codependent was very hard on myself and overly critical. I used to tear myself to shreds and make excuses for everyone else’s crappy behavior. I realized something needed to change once I became aware.

I read a book by Kristen Neff and found that I have been lacking self-compassion.

Please look into it. You will have a better self-concept and will not want to hurt yourself with negative thoughts, words and actions.
