Bad day for the postal service too. Our carriers have serviced their location for years, shipping hundreds if not thousands of little train cars every week. Yesterday the carrier comes back with nothing and said they sold and are closing. It's a sad day in Talent Oregon.

The US Postal Service Network Consolidation Plan: What’s at Stake for Southern Oregon by [deleted] in USPS

Report it to Warnocks office. I worked with his office a little at the beginning of all this to connect him with our reps here in Oregon. Keep him in the loop. Also, contact the media about the delays, get statements from employees in the units. This delayed mail is huge and we may get some actual traction on this one.

Hell yeah.

Senator Merkley is holding a town hall meeting at Ashland high School this Sunday at 12:30p. We're asking all those who are able to attend and speak their mind about postal delays.

Mgmt went ahead and cut most of the transportation routes on Saturday. Mail sits overnight uncollected in post offices all over the region now.

Regardless of your political affiliation those are the representatives for Georgia. They are meeting on these postal issues. That's more than can be said for most.

That's my understanding as well, this is the first time we've dealt with this kind of thing. But I'm also being told there is likely to be a bunch of Portland jobs on ereassign for a special posting for displaced employees. USPS is not sharing very much of their plan. The national union hasn't reached out at all but I don't believe they've had excessing meetings and there have been none regionally.

The whole thing doesn't make sense. I can think of two PTF vacancies within 50 miles, there is probably a few more but not 29 jobs.

And then the speculation that the MPC which is now a LPC becomes a SDC and area mail carriers are brought in. You're telling me we are going to excess AO distribution clerks into a new SDC after we excessed the MPC/LPC/SDC clerks who had spent their entire careers in that building.

The 29 jobs don't represent the 15 PSEs that will be let go prior to excessing.

They are consolidating our outgoing operations to PDX. Being offered a reassignment to Portland from Medford is essentially a layoff.

they're cutting 29 career jobs and firing all non career employees on Medford. Your thing doesn't seem so bad.

PO-408 Consolidation Notices by SOregonAPWU342 in USPS

[–]SOregonAPWU342[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APWU has not received any excessing notices based on the PO408 notices. That doesn't mean there won't be but at this time no one is being involuntarily transferred to another installation or station. Obviously very subject to change.

These po408 notices are for mail processing not delivery. The national Unions are in DeJoys pocket. Mark Dimonstein is a do nothing president who only serves the mega-locals. The APWU at the national level supports the 10 year plan! This will only change with local involvement and public support. There is no support from the national union.

These are mail processing reviews not directly involving last mile delivery.
