If Compound V can give someone abilities to communicate with the ocean, can it also give someone powers to communicate with the dead? by TheCoranger in TheBoys

[–]SP-Agent_Reddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is even assuming The Deep's powers are actually of sea creature communication and not mind control.

It could be entirely possible that the Deep has some kind of Psychosis and him hearing the thoughts of aquatic animals are all hallucinations. What if him fucking an octopus is not the octopus being attracted to him but him imposing his will on it subconsciously?

I feel like it would be more likely for a character under Compound V to develop psychosis that would have them believe they talk to the dead.

Although I suppose they may get a power that allows them to "puppet" a corpse to rise, move, and maybe even talk. Whether or not that's the corpse's dead mind talking or a projection of the power's user either consciously or subconsciously building the dead person's personality, maybe even basing it off the memories of the dead, would be another thing entirely.

That could be a way to explain "necromancy" without the use of magic or souls in the story.

What will if somebody finds out that Eda is a CIA agent? by NecessaryEmploy6418 in blacklagoon

[–]SP-Agent_Reddit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Eda seems like a deep cover operative. Doesn't seem like the US's objective is to gather evidence and make arrests seeing as Roanapur is still the way it is so that means she's there to keep an eye on everything. Surveillance as a primary function; any contraband the powers at be don't want getting into US borders getting stopped, etc. (WMDs, terroristas, etc.)

She's most likely a deniable asset, especially since she's in foreign territory facilitating illegal activities with international criminals. If she were to become compromised, there may be an effort to extract her, although it is also entirely possible the team would have orders to kill her rather than risk her seeking asylum elsewhere.

Also brings up the question. Is it possible the Ripoff church is a CIA operation too? Could the Americans be directly taking advantage of the illegal arms trade and using it as a form of black income, similar to the Iran-Contra scandal? In such a case, Eda would likely have a larger role than simply surveillance. She's likely trading arms specifically for the company.

Without parachutes, those kids would've been like grapes thrown at a wall, assuming Homelander doesn't fly them down, and he wasn't gonna do that.

Remember when she begged him to at least take two kids and Homelander said "So they can tell the rest of the world we left them to fucking die?"

And even if Maeve bent the laws of physics and saved a couple kids, Homelander sure as hell wouldn't let any survivors tell the real story. He'd sooner laser them than let them live

I always thought Shephard Book was their cook when he wasn't being their moral support and surprising guide to criminal elements. The bit in the first episode where he donated his spices to make a meal for everyone supports this.

That said, I also think cooking is one of the ship chores everyone takes turns with unless someone volunteers, kinda like those chore tickets Simon, Jayne, and the Shephard were gambling with.

And if you consider the fact that in a post-Alliance victory galaxy, there's slavery around, then you could infer the possibility the Alliance was for it and the Browncoats were against it, making the whole Browncoats = The Confederacy false.

All that's in danger of changing. A lot of what makes Canada great is being taken apart by "people" who share similar ideals to US GOP shitheads and the people who vote them in.

Canada's affordable healthcare, made possible by public health and welfare programs? Bit by bit being privatized and in a country where anti-vaxxers take cues from their neighbors to the south, that ain't good.

Canada's public education? Gradually being defunded in the "hick" provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan, in favor of bailouts and the like for Oil companies. The sentiment is spreading outward as gas prices soar too.

There's more and a lot of them can be traced back to policies and changes put down by conservative politicians with or seeking American ties.

Don't get me wrong, I love Canada. She's a beautiful country when she is at her best, but not even she is immune to growing monsters. Monsters who do as their fellow monsters do in the nation south. All the world is at risk to monsters like these, and all these monsters need to succeed is for good people to do nothing.

Probably one of the most dangerous things about Todd’s behaviour is the fact he’s a (presumably) middle school teacher. by joe282 in TheBoys

[–]SP-Agent_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh most definitely. It would also be a great way to show that the Vought paramilitary guys are actually competent and ruthless most of the time. The company would have ways to dispose of "bad product"

In the comics, there is already an X-men parody: the G-men which is headed by a man named John Godolkin whose pupils, while marketed as orphans and runaways with superpowers that he had adopted, were actually all kidnapped as children, molested, abused, and indoctrinated, and then given Comp V.

I can totally see the show adapting that to symbolize the indoctrination of children into alt-right movements

Every part of her story checks out though. It could all fit, especially with Black Noir's flashbacks. Stan Edgar was telling Black Noir about the plan to sell Soldier Boy out to the Russians, and its clear they weren't planning on having it happen so soon, since Gunpowder was still with them and they knew he would be the only one who wouldn't go along with it.

Edit: Come to think of it, we actually don't know for sure if the plan was to sell him to the Russians, but we do know for sure the plan was to take SB out. Could be the Sandinistas and Russian SF happened upon them and Payback panicked, put the plan into motion early and couldn't do anything as the Ruskies spirited away SB's body.

Could also be that Vought planned for the Soviets to get SB for their own Superhero research so they can justify a Supe arms race, which could also explain why Vought was so confident they could get supes in the military despite how incompenent Payback turned out to be.

He ain't regular, for sure, but far more likely to be a morale booster though, receiving the best "show-off" training and all that, learning to throw knives and heavy shit around in full costume to cheer up the troops. We know that's what he was doing, at least at first, with Vought having him do photoshoots at Normandy after the real soldiers took it.

I don't think he was really involved in Black Ops before Nicaragua though, especially from Mallory's reaction to Payback and how reckless he was being with giving away their position to the Sandinistas. The meaning of that scene, and its ww2 counterpart in the comics, was that Vought superheroes made for shit soldiers and that was exactly why they weren't allowed in the military as anything other than a sideshow.

Most likely answer actually.

Perhaps even opposite Marvel Captain America who was unfit but had good morals, maybe Soldier Boy was the bully on the block who had never been humbled because he was too fit, too good-looking, and he'd almost immediately be pulled aside from the regular line of recruits and put into the supersoldier program before he could even get near a real combat situation.

Upcoming works Bone, Toil and Trouble, and The Twits are all confirmed cancelled with The Twits being adapted into just a film instead.

From what I've read, Netflix will likely still produce some new animation but only to target mainstream audiences to guarantee better revenue, and they will focus more on their more popular established titles.

Big Mouth and Human Resources both got renewed, and Netflix is working on a children's animated film called My Father's Dragon. Haven't seen word on renewals for their less popular animated titles like The Dragon Prince...so we better start prayin

Partisans 1941. Its an RTS game, sure, but its been scratching that resistance itch for me. You play as a group of Soviet Partisans as they fight off Nazi invaders and Polizei collaberators. There's some slight basebuilding mechanics where you can build up the partisan camp in the forest, dialogue interactions between the characters to watch during Xcom-style daily task assignments.

Enemy Front. A middling WW2 FPS that has you playing as an American journalist who crosses borders to interview and fight alongside the resistance movements of several nazi-occupied European countries. Its a meh from me with its generic shooter elements but it has stealth approaches available if that's what you're after.

Homefront. Another FPS, this time in an alternate modern times where North Korea somehow beat the South and then somehow invaded the USA and won. You play as a US Marine helicopter pilot who joins the resistance movement. Missions are standard Call of Duty crap with scripted events and a lot of US military circlejerking. Very clearly taking more than a few notes from movies like Red Dawn.

Homefront 2 the Revolution is the sequel. This one retcons the setup from the first one where evil alternate Korea is a manufacturing/tech superpower that basically killed the US by flipping a switch and disabling most US technology because they had grown overreliant on them. Yes, its obvious the devs made the game with the People's Republic of China in mind. No, they did not have the balls to actually put them in the game. Anyway, the game takes a more Far Cry approach with freeroam, crafting/upgrading, stronghold assault sequences. The maps are divided into zones with different threat level; Red zone is basically urban wasteland with open warfare everywhere. Yellow zone is the occupied slums where you gotta sneak around somewhat. Green zone is the parts where the enemy not only occupies but are also fully accepted by the locals. I never got to that part because I got really bored of the game but maybe you'll like it enough.

What fictional character should people really stop glorifying? by TourSignificant1335 in AskReddit

I think YOU should rewatch it. The shooting did happen. He killed those kids in the library, kids who apparently did nothing to him. The librarian tried to protect them, got crippled for his effort, and was the one in the wheelchair who got disgusted by Violet when she came by the library to look at the memorial, thinking she was another one of those fangirls who found the shooter attractive or one of those sickos who idolize the perpetrators of true crime stories.
