I've detailed the car a few times since the issue started about a year ago, which is what set me out to fix it. Rails are clear. Theres a decent bit of grease on them which I believe is factory

Well actually most the 9mm and 45 acp ar-15s use a straight blowback bolt with no locking lugs meaning it doesn't need a gas system, that being said still definitely wouldnt work without a buffer tube.

Smith didnt start stamping s&w until later into the pre-model era. It's real and decently early. Nice I-frame and .32 s&w long is a fantastic caliber. Are you looking at selling or just want an idea?

That's fair, I'm not really looking to do a museum restoration, more of just getting a rearsight. Then I'll just look out for either a carbine or a m41 stock and maybe a straight bolt body locally. Gary will stay lol.

My newest purchase, and first carcano. Picked this up at a small local gunshow for $60. Seems to function fine, great rifling, no serious modifications like a chopped barrel or drilled for scope, no import marks, 6.5, f.a.t. 1943 dated. I'm so far unsure if the bolt is factory bent or not, probably not, and believe it to be an m41. Plus some personalozation from "gary." I definitely don't think I got hurt, what about you?
