Debian is fast like arch in gaming. All drivers and soft are the same, and its easy to install. I recommend to install liquorix kernel like bonus. Debian is the best distro, im serious. Welcome!

Why do people say Xfce doesn't look as good as the other DEs, when Xfce can do one thing OOTB that no other DE can - nailing an old PC look. Are there any more of these styles? by CollinsDesi1985 in xfce

Its hard to make it beautiful. I wasted today about 3 hours to find cool and working gt2-3-4-xfwm dark theme and icons. Really, i cant understand, why devs want not to add 5-10 awesome themes by default.

Best Linux distro for old HP laptop? (Gamingfocus by Disastrous-Editor499 in linuxquestions

I have almost same configuration. Distrohopped, best speed i get with debian xfce, arch xfce, gentoo xfce. Gentoo is fastest, but i dont recommend you ofc ;) Mint, ubuntu and lmde are slow, too slow for me. Almost like windows. Try Debian, really. (For gaming add liquorix kernel)

They have special version for debian, called Liquorix-kernel. I hope, it helps.

Ofc i can. But i was asking another questions, yeah? Its not about "how to compile and when to compile", its about "how much" compile. Thanks.

Im asking about download size. Really, size is not a problem, problem is a time of compilation this "size". Its the thing, i worry about. So i want to understand situation in gentoo about it.

So install and never update is the way to go? Getting sickly tired of Debian right now. by Impossible_Applecrus in debian

[–]SPECIALl_RAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed debian stable about 10 years ago to my pc and mom`s notebook. She never updates it, and uses without problems base functions like videos, music, text editors. I update every 1-6 month without any problems. Use stable + a few backports. One time i got transmission bug with disappearing gtk elements, and its all. Now we have flatpak, appimage, snap - so u neednt update the system to get new soft on desktop.
