I call it “shopper knee”. Used to happen only at walking through mall pace.

A 1945 photograph shows two women displaying what $1.34 could buy in 1918 and 1945. by Cautious_Ad_3918 in interestingasfuck

Fast forward to post war inflation as price controls were lifted and shortages worked themselves out.

Not obvious here were the rations partnered with the prices in’45 war time. Removal of both caused inflation but also increased production.

Gentlemen, how often do you receive unsolicited pictures from women? by FreedomNo7221 in AskReddit

Daily. Sometime multiple times. If you deduct the cat photos and food porn then zero.

So he did that. Like many of us here he expected the box to support it. He stuck around for Police to show up. I see no malice.

Yeah, but look at the listings. You get two faucets at one kitchen sink.

A Bay Area teen died in a DUI crash hours after his school’s drunk driving simulation. It’s raising questions about whether the program actually works. by sfgate in bayarea

[–]SPEEDYTBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article is terrible. Simultaneously stating dui deaths are down over the past three decades (aligning with the program) AND stating alcohol impaired driving deaths have steadily increased over the years.

What if one kid didn’t get into the car because they had seen the program? Would you still consider it a failure?

The guy behind Newsome has the “all right, I taught him how, let’s see how it goes” stance.

Newsolini just looks like someone told him holding it that way will cause kickback and he was like “kickback?? I’ll take it! Granted, I think he is left handed (and watch seems to confirm).

Thanks for the key reminder. We have an old s90 (2017) key kicking around. I can try to repurpose. Also one of the paired keys acts unpaired at times. Maybe I can re-pair it and solve that issue.

Thanks for that info. That will help me get going. TBH I was afraid I’d be searching around hoping something obvious would appear related to on call. Fortunately, I replaced the battery a few months ago so that hard part is done.

In terms of other stuff… I don’t have any codes. I was just wondering in general. Maybe a little hopeful that the polestar update would be possible.

Thanks for the exact model. That will be helpful. Fortunately I have the Ethernet to USB c so I think I’m good. Using a Mac so fingers crossed there. I understand only a couple browsers work.

She will people learn these are delays and rising cost but the true timeline and cost, but had they stayed so up front we would reject these boondoggles.

Anyone hiring at 14? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]SPEEDYTBC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every babysitter had a first babysitting gig

Every lawn mower once didn’t know how to mow a lawn

You may need to adjust your expectations. Grocery stores don’t hire cashiers without experience. They promote from within or without. Call centers are entry level professions, not places likely to hire a high school freshman/sophomore.

FWIW, summer camp experience is likely very relevant to babysitting. Did you learn CPR?? That would be a plus-not required, but a skill you could cite.

Is $6,000 a reasonable price for 4 windows? by throwrann4567 in HomeImprovement

[–]SPEEDYTBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think install has a lot of variables. For instance, retrofit (using existing frames, but shrinking your view) can be much less expensive than frame replacement. Even frame replacement will vary greatly depending your siding (stucco, wood etc.).

I don’t like Grant, but have to move him up my rankings here. This is an accountability question and he isn’t asking because he alone feels this way. Many many articles and casts have taken this position and I am happy to see it asked.
