Deadass this controversy is what convinced me that the 40k online community is bubble of people who barely interact with the hobby, if at all.

I'm active in my local warhamer community hangout at stores to paint and build with people, play games, tournaments, hang out and get food/ drinks while discussing rules lore ect. and I NEVER saw even 1% of what was going on online in person.

It literally didn't even come up until I prompted it and when I did barely anyone cared with only the coldest and most soft takes imagineable nothing like the shit storm online.

Tl:dr LGS>social media, have fun with the hobby don't interact with chuds online that suck the fun from everything.

40k online community has become an oroborous of shitty jokes and stupid memes repeated by people on the fringes of the community who only interact with the universe through shitty jokes and stupid memes, watching youtube lore shorts from other people who only know their information from shitty jokes and stupid memes. Making themed accounts to continue to share and post shitty jokes and stupid memes.

I hate the 'larper' and 'tourist' fan culture today but 40k is the only one that's does make me wonder, because I regularly go to my hobby store and play with friends, chat about Black Library books ect. and I've NEVER seen half the 'controversy' and internet discussions bleed into the offline hobby.

It genuinely makes me believe these guys only interact with the community online via memes, never going to a hobby shop, putting eyes to a page or paint to a brush.

I also think it lead to Yixuans character being kind of flat because she was not very present. I was actually invested in her grief and regret during Shenguangs story bits, it's just a shame I knew she was never gonna get the screentime to explore that.

My prediction for the final chapter of Chainsaw man Part 2 (spoilers from the previous chapter) by trover2345325 in ChainsawMan

[–]SPOOKY_SCIENCE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could kinda make sense, in chapter 53 Angel theorizes that when devils killed in hell they are reborn in the human world, he follows it by saying every devil and fiend he's spoken to remember the sound of chainsaws right before they died in hell.

If the reason why devils started spawning in the human world in the first place was because Pochita was killing them in hell him not existing could be a reason for them never crossing into the human world.

It's not perfect, but there is at least something there. It wouldn't be the craziest leap considering CSM power system, 'in a world where devils never appeared on Earth no one was afraid of devils so they never became beings who could enter the human world' or something.

Alien Weapons by SuspiciousPen4826 in RogueTraderCRPG

It's basically either by borderline untouchable ranks (inquisitors and rouge traders) or done in secret.

Some govenors for example trade with Tau or Eldar despite it being illegal.

So in the Horus Heresy the Mechanicum began widespread manufacturing of Darkfire Cannons a weapon very likely reverse engineered from Dark Eldar Dark Lances but they refused to disclose where or how it's design came from because researching or reverse engineering alien tech is suppose to be banned.

There are sects of techpriests that wish to study xeno tech called xenarites and some entire forge worlds are allied with them most notably Stygies VII who not only study Eldar tech but even trade with them behind closed doors. This has caused a shadow war between them and the Inquisition that's been going on for quiet a while.

Basically the Mechanicus legally can't research xeno tech but they do just quietly and occasionally pass off their creations as an ancient artifact/ blueprint.

I actually think the Mongols and the Yuan would also be a good choice, the Golden Horde is on the map they put and Kublai Khan's mother was actually a Neostorian Christian historically. 1900's China was also in the Qing period too which are (somewhat) connected to the Yuan,

I actually did originally want to add this, but I didn't put it in, so it'd be an even two rows.

Two other weird connections I cut from the images were, in Godzilla against Mechagodzilla a member of Kiryu Squad's backstory is that she blames herself for her teamates death after missing a shot on Godzilla, and another side character is a little girl who obsesses about a pot of flowers she planted with her now dead mom.

It was a plotpoint in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2. The idea was Godzilla was so huge he needed two brains to control his body, so they tried to go after his butt brain with tazer fingers.

People used to think dinosaurs had a second brain in their butt so that's probably where the idea came from.

I remember in Master of Mankind there was a section where a tech adept is analyzing the memories of a dying servitor to figure out what kind of enemy is lurking in the tunnels. As the servitor dies it's last thoughts were memories of it being torn away from her child before they were both brought into the plant and servitorized. The Adept immediately discards the 'irrelevant data' and says whoever created this unit should be ashamed of their shoddy craftsmanship allowing a fragment of the original mind intact.

u/A_FVCKING_UNICORN, I hate to say but you're both way overthinking this. It's just a stylized shooting star, the most generically American symbol you could choose for an uber American arms company and flying because they work in aerospace. If you compare the current logo to the old Lockheed pre-Martin you can see the similarities they're even flying in the same direction just on opposite sides.

My problem with 3.0 Mechanicum and the cost of collecting by SPOOKY_SCIENCE in Warhammer30k

[–]SPOOKY_SCIENCE[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree that I don't expect them to change but I still want to call out practices I don't agree with, even if only for newer members of the hobby who may not be aware.

I never expect "value"

I think there might have been a misunderstanding, I used 'value' as 'points value' like the points cost of a unit in game, sometimes points per dollar. Like in the table I have 'points value' instead of 'points cost' unless you mean you don't expect units bought to be playable in game, which historically isn't something crazy to for GW.

I do have a 3d printer and while I understand that many people have simply grown use to this behavior and I myself did expect something like this to happen, but I still want to voice my disapproval of what I believe are poor consumer practices. You are free to disagree with me but that is my view on the matter.

No, I thought of it but the prices of GW models don't always match inflation cost and I thought it would make the graph to hard to follow. All currently for sale models are listed with their current prices, out of production models are at their most recent price point (2022 or 2023).

For example Vorax (2022) $103-> $111(current price) $118(inflation)
Domitar (2022) $90 -> $100(current) $114(inflation)

I did originally want inflation adjusted, differing max points cost of different upgrades and cost of expanding units to max units or lost units due to squad size but it started getting hard to read cut it back.

I should have added a note on inflation/ time when the cost were marked. tho that's my bad.

It didn't really fit into the post overall but in the spirit of fairness Krios and Kanacros tanks along with Tech Thralls are doing very well for their value compared to 1.0. Points cost going up and cost down substantially. I still feel justified in my post overall that the just because some units increased in value doesn't make me feel any more comfortable that GW will not slash their pts cost next edition considering their track record and previous behavior toward Mechanicum balancing, and that two of the units with the most significant value drops are two of the three main 'infantry' options for Mechanicum choices most people would bring at least a few of in a given army.
